Hello Kickstarter! These days more and more people are making fantastic home-baked pizzas. Since launching the Uuni wood-fired oven two years ago, we’ve wanted to create tools that make this easier.
Great dough is the bedrock of a great pizza and proving (or proofing, if you prefer) plays an important part in getting it right. We used to cover plates with cling film or find random containers to fill with dough balls but always found this to be… not such a great process.
And so, Uuni Stack was born. A simple tool created for the important task of proving dough. Each dough ball gets its own container, place the Stack on your worktop and it keeps the dough fresh and moist until you need it.
Another area where the Stack excels, is when you want to cold proof your dough in the fridge for, say, 24 or 48 hours. Cold proving is the best way to make amazing dough as it allows the yeast to work with the sugars in the flour for longer. Here's a link to our recipe for pizza dough. Using the Stack means no more worrying about getting a skin on the dough or gas build up in a plastic container. Just remove from the fridge to room temperature 2 hours before it's pizza time!
Stack isn't just for proving dough, we find ourselves using the bowls for pizza toppings and ingredients when cooking. With it’s simple design Uuni Stack also works well as stylish storage for any dry goods - pasta, rice, lentils etc…
Simple design and high quality materials form the basis of the Stack- which is comprised of three glass bowls that fit on top of one another and are then topped by a wooden lid. The size, 16cm (6.3") wide and 7cm (2.75") high, is tested to be a perfect fit for pizza dough balls. The lid is made of beech and doubles up as a small chopping board.
Where are we now and how can you help?
We’ve been working on this for the best part of the year— getting the size just right, testing materials, and eating a lot of pizza in the process (tough job, I know). What you see on this page is the final manufacturing sample. We are ready to begin.
We have done mass production before and have handled global logistics with Uuni and Uuni 2 so we know exactly what we’re getting into.
This Kickstarter campaign will allow us to move forward with producing the Uuni Stack and we will work tirelessly to aim to get you yours in time for Christmas. Uuni Stack is a perfect gift for all the foodies you know…by foodies we simply mean people who like food. Do you know any of them?!
We’d be so grateful for your support of our project – back us today and be one of the first to get your hands on this great piece of kitchenware.
Please also share this project with your friends and families... They love cooking too right?!
Personally, I’ve really enjoyed using the Stack and its various prototypes, and it’s become an integral part of pizza making for me. I’ve got a feeling you’ll love it too.
- Glass bowls are 16cm (6.3") in diameter and 7cm (2.75") high
- The bowls volume is roughly one litre or little less than a quart
- The bowls are dishwasher and microwave safe
- The lid is made of oiled beech and it's 2 cm (0.8") thick
- The lid loves a hand wash and a bit of vegetable or olive oil from time to time
As you’ll see from the pledge buttons on the side we’re offering backers the chance to get their own Uuni Stack for £25 ($39) and as Uuni Stacks fit together there’s no reason to stop at just a 3 tier Stack.. you can pledge to receive multiple stacks that fit together to enable you to make many more pizzas in one firing or they can be utilised for different purposes in your kitchen storage/ prep etc. Check out the Uuni Stack Downtown option, too.
We also have a special sourdough starter kit which we’re producing in collaboration with a local artisan baker. Pledge £6 ($10) and receive this lively little bread bombshell. It's a great way to get into sourdough pizzas!

Risks and challenges
As said before, we're completely happy with the samples and the manufacturers are ready to begin. We know how long it takes them to produce these and how long it takes to ship them to warehouses and then on to our backers. We are working really hard to get this to you by the end of December.
What could go wrong? Things sometimes just take longer than expected. However, we are in constant contact with all the suppliers and services in the supply chain as from our previous experience tells us that this works to minimise delays and unexpected problems.
