The Stargazers Visual Novel: A Yuri Mecha Space Opera (Canceled)
The Stargazers squadron! Three pilots of the Allied Defense Force Signals (ADFS), first to arrive in any new frontier!
The Stargazers squadron! These three pilots of the Allied Defense Force Signals (ADFS) are the first line of defense in any new frontier. Their mission? Venture deep into uncharted space and explore the hell out of it!
The Stargazers is about giant robots, star ships and the relationship between three mecha pilots. Inspired by 50s and 80s Scifi, Pulp Fiction, and Mecha anime! Stargazers is a yuri game, showing the relationship between a group of three mecha pilots and their time together.
This Kickstarter for The Stargazers isn't just to Remaster the original game either, but a to develop a sequel to the original with several times more bonus story, characters, music and more! Backers will be getting a remastered original and the new story, all in one!
The Sequel will be 5x longer than the original and feature a whole second soundtrack, far more CGs, way more story, and a fantastic Cosmaton(Mecha) fueled climax! We hope you're excited for this project as we are.
Overall The Stargazers is a Visual Novel where you follow the exploits of different pilots throughout the story. At points in the game you can change perspective, viewing the current scene from the point of view of different characters. Some scenes are only open to certain characters so be sure to follow all of them if you want the whole story.

The ADFSS Shooting Star is a standard deep space exploration ship sent to the Outer Rim. Its purpose is to survey viable territories and locate vital resources that keep human colonies functioning.
Cosmatons are the small fighters and utility vehicles of the ADF. They have a modular design, able to be adapted to any situation which the ADF might come across.
Together, the three pilots form the Stargazers squadron and aid the Shooting Star as it explores the Outer Rim of the Milky Way. During their explorations, they come across a massive pirate operation that has been operating without check in the Outer Rim for years. As the only ADF presence nearby, the crew of The Shooting Star are the only people placed to take on these dangerous pirates, and take down their shadowy leader.
As humanity took to space, the different military organisations on Earth merged together to create the Allied Defence Force. This new military was organised to protect human colonies, explore space and find new planets for settlement.
The Space Elves
An ancient spacefaring race, they encountered humanity several decades ago. After a few years of negotiation, a treaty was signed and the two races became allies. Space Elves are very different from humans, not just because of their bio metallic appearance but also their entire outlook on life. Even their ships are different, having more in common with living trees than ships of dead metal.
Barnstokkr is one of the first Space Elf colonies and the colony largely responsible for the alliance between the Space Elves and humanity.
Ruthless in the pursuit of its objectives, the pirates of the Outer Rim are not a ragtag bunch of individual ships but a massive network of ships controlled by a shadowy leadership. Can anyone break their stranglehold on the Outer Rim of the galaxy?
The Cosmatons they use are much like the ADF's, but looted and scrapped together from non-standard parts to aid their efforts to control their territory, and gather as many resources as possible to fuel their empire.
In The Stargazers, we were strongly inspired by pulp sci-fi stories, art deco and deco punk movements, as well as electronica music and classic anime. The great space epics from Dune to mecha anime like Gundam and Voltron also played a role in our character and mecha design.
The Stargazers pays homage to mecha anime and space opera, with massive ship battles and larger-than-life villains. It's also deeply romantic, like classic yuri visual novels. The love that develops between the three girls over the course of the story is as important as the missions they go on. So sit back and enjoy the ride as the girls of Stargazers Squadron are thrust together in cool, interesting adventures!
We’re excited to have the talented Ivy Fae working on the soundtrack for the Stargazers. Ivy Fae is a singer-songwriter, electronic music producer, software programmer, and visual artist from Minneapolis, Minnesota. She released her first full-length album, "The Book of Seeds", on October 21st, 2016, and is now working on her second. Ivy is also a guest instructor at [Beats By Girls] and a co-organizer of Transgression MN, a Minneapolis concert of trans musicians.
We at Lupiesoft are a tiny development studio that focuses on creating meaningful playable stories and experiences. We proudly specialise in delivering great games, despite operating with scarce resources.
We are seeking investment solely through Kickstarter, and after completion The Stargazers will appear on Steam and on MangaGamer. MangaGamer is a trusted partner of Studio Lupiesoft and will be providing marketing, quality assurance, and consultation for the distribution of the game we create!
One of our previous works include stories about demons and rock music.
Our most recent game is about love and adventure on the pirate ship Mutiny!!.

The Stargazers has an original release which is available on Steam and Mangagamer. This Kickstarter will not only redo the art, but add a whole new soundtrack, remaster the first half, and extend the story by as much as five times longer. This includes other polish to bring the story up to standard with Lupiesoft's subsequent standard of releases. A lot of pre-production work has already been carried out and production will begin as soon as the Kickstarter has concluded.
This kickstarter isn't just a remaster, but a massive improvement that greatly adds to the story that we could not afford to tell before.
Where Does The Money Go?
Be Part of the Process
Our previous titles have been developed together with our community, with frequent discussion and incorporating community feedback in every possible way. As with previous projects, we want to give backers the ability to provide feedback and even appear in the game! We offer our backers several levels of involvement with the project’s development:
This project came to Steam in 2016, although succesful we have felt the game was too short, and too lacking in the high degree of polish that we are capable of doing now.
Backers will be supporting not only the overhaul of the base game, but essentially a huge sequel to the game on Steam, several times longer than the main campaign. You can see an example of our efforts in the demo at the start of this page. Overall The Stargazers will have new story, new characters, and new locales as Stargazers Squadron uncovers more of Lady's fiendish plots.
Bringing the game to Kickstarter now will enable us to get the extra funds we need to fully realize our artistic goals while retaining full creative control. For us, this is critical because of the potentially controversial topics we are featuring in the game.
At the same time, it creates a community around the game we can rely on to make the Stargazers truly awesome! The following we have built around our games is precious to us and we hope through Kickstarter we can grow that community further.
Risks and challenges
When you are about to embark on any project there will always be a certain amount of anxiety. You can list all of the potential risks until you’re blue in the face. There is road ahead of us to final release but we hope it’s not too long a road. It would be foolish to assume no problems would crop up but we are confident we can handle any issues which might come up during development. We are experienced developers, having successfully steered multiple projects right before this one, so we feel confident we will know how to manage the unexpected.
Some backers might be aware that we currently have another Kickstarter project which has yet to deliver and worry this project will cause further delays. That will not be the case. The team that will be working on the Stargazers will not be working on Dizzy Hearts. They will be developed alongside each other.
Finally it’s worth mentioning that due to the mature nature of some of the themes and visuals, we may have to prepare ourselves to fight a couple of battles over censorship or etiquette here and there, but we’re confident that if we have the support of you backers, we will be able to manage it in a way that it is satisfactory to most parties.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
