Hello, I’m Taosym, the artist and founder of Lupiesoft, an indie game studio. Lupiesoft is made up of volunteer staff from around the world who assist with Dizzy Hearts, our studio’s first visual novel.

Dizzy Hearts is a mature visual novel. With some parts romance, comedy and drama. A story which deals with gender, social status and growing up.

Drawn in 2500x and sent to you via email as a PSD and a PNG. — After this Kickstarter I will message the backers who wanted a sketch and survey what they want. I'll find the references I need and mail the sketch to you after this Kickstarter. I am willing to do most requests for clothes and poses that you'd want, within reason of course.

$200 [Skype Q&A + Stream Session] — I will host a stream and a one-on-one Skype call after the release of Dizzy Hearts, where I will answer any questions you have regarding the game (that aren't spoilers) while I draw sketch requests for you. The stream will be approximately 8 hours long (minimum of 6 hours long) and we can schedule it when it is most suitable for you. The scheduling of each slot will take place a week apart from each other for recovery. First come first serve! This tier includes a physical copy of the game and soundtrack. [4 remaining]
$300 [Design a character!] — You and I will have a one-on-one Skype call and together we will design a background character for the game that fits the setting/story/location, including elements of their story, personality, looks and more. This character will be written into the story of Dizzy Hearts or Vagabond. In addition to this, your name/handle will be mentioned in the 'special thanks' section of the game’s prologue. Delivered upon completion of this Kickstarter! This tier also includes a physical copy of the game + soundtrack + Radiant Period Compendium (these to be delivered on completion of the game). Seriva is a young girl from the subterranean, human nation of Assard. Upon reaching adulthood it is tradition for the humans of Assard to leave home and bring back what they have discovered from the outside world. Seriva, an excitable adventurous girl at heart, leaves on a journey of discovery, to find what lies beyond the rift.

Born as the youngest Fiore daughter of the current queen, she is part of the 4 ruling houses that debate laws, and politics in her city. In addition to this, the three opposing houses are all run by her sisters. Mercilia, burdened by the distant relationship with her mother and sisters is rather cold and short with strangers. She remains within her manor for long periods of time, avoiding being politically involved.

Aunyrae is a priestess to the princess Mercilia, and a former student of the current queen's priestess. Even for an Elf, she is known to be rather lascivious for women. Her honesty makes her adept at providing spiritual advice to the princess in her duties as royalty. Much to Mercilia's annoyance, who will often avoid Aunyrae before she can lecture the young elf.

Nail is Mercilia's personal bodyguard, and accompanies the princess as she leaves the grounds of the manor. In addition, Nail acts as personal confidant to the princess, who is often annoyed by Nail's random disappearances. Quiet but imposing, she often only has to leer at others in order to make them uneasy in her presence.

Irraere is the Chief Thaumaturgist of her house. Much like a alchemist, or a doctor(which is much the same thing in Elf culture). She is responsible for the health of the manor. She often resides in the ward that she's made into her own personal library, and rarely leaves. When she does, she is often seen as aloof, lost in thought, or lethargic. Acting more like a hermit than an elf, much to the annoyance of the rest of the manor.

Why should I support you?
A staggering amount of time and effort has gone into the design of the world, its geography and the construction of its races, as well as the creatures that live in it. This makes the characters not only have a large amount of depth. It also makes them relatable and believable in an otherwise alien world.
Dizzy Hearts is a story, but it's also a cog in many cogs in a much larger story that spans several periods. It's set in the Radiant period of this world, a world that I have been developing for close to a decade now.
Why use Kickstarter?
I have had to cut back on things that I designed for the game initially so that I could finish it entirely by myself. This is evident in the demo. Funding from this Kickstarter would go towards expanding the game to my initial plans of it being 200,000 words in length, instead of having to truncate Dizzy Hearts to a projected 90,000 words. Kickstarter funding would allow me to include choices in the game, where the supporting cast can influence and be influenced by Mercilia's attitude as she grows as a princess. As it stands, I cannot implement choices without substantial time and work, neither of which I can afford without making sacrifices to the game’s quality.
If this Kickstarter is funded, I would be able to give each character the support and depth they deserve and add much needed interactivity. I would also be able to increase the soundtrack to several dozen songs, giving the game a much more flexible personality and adding to the scenes.
Lastly, it would mean a higher quality of writing, expanded content and longer story with more endings. Potential stretch goals can add even more to the Dizzy Hearts universe.
The money will go towards:
- Better art, more backgrounds, animations, more poses and alternative clothes
- More music, including instrumental music by our game’s musicianHigh quality writing, editing and programmingWebsite development

- Creating, printing and shipping rewards

Dizzy Hearts is estimated to launch by January 2014. However, if this Kickstarter succeeds, I will be able to hire assistance to improve, expand and complete this project much sooner. If it succeeds, I will be working on pledge rewards leading up to and after the launch of the game. I will be starting work on them officially after launch, not 2014. During development I will be updating backers and fans with a more reasonable deadline.
Upon completion, even if this project isn’t funded, I will translate Dizzy Hearts into both Japanese and Russian, with more languages available depending on the game's success.
In addition to that, if this Kickstarter goes into stretch goals, I have a lot of interesting additions waiting for you.
Oh boy, things are getting crazy, I never expected that this game would generate the amazing response it has. I had dreams about what I'd like to accomplish if it ever went this far. Yet, I never expected it might actually go this far!

- A special PDF booklet that features special notes about the main and side characters of Dizzy Hearts. Including the Queen, her daughters (Mercilia's sisters), about Nail's upbringing Irraere's history and Aunyrae's teaching, and other story elements that can't make it into the game.
- Irraere's Library is a chibi tumblr comic series that I will update through the development of Dizzy Hearts and afterwards. Irraere's Library will feature several things about Dizzy Hearts that are are unfit for the Compendium or Booklet, these are mostly things about elf biology, ecology, funny skits, and reader question and answer. It will be different from a "Ask X" type tumblr, because I will be picking questions that are interesting to me to answer.
If this Kickstarter hits $8000, singer and voice actor Amanda Lee has agreed to lend her talents to singing the Dizzy Hearts Opening and Ending songs.

It will cost roughly $8.5k to produce Vagabond baseline at 500k words. Roughly double Dizzy Heart's size for an equivalent price. Factoring in personal time commitment and personal funding.
Also includes funding for HD ver. of Dizzy Hearts.

It will cost roughly $17k to produce Vagabond at 1mil words. Double in size for double the price, but this also includes everything from expanded soundtracks to OPs/EDs, a full sized western VN rather than having to pay extra for that.

What is Vagabond?
"Vagabond ~ The Sail in the Desert" is a visual novel that will be set in the same period (Radiant period) as Dizzy Hearts and will feature multiple character routes, making it longer than its predecessor. The game is set in the jewel city of Alabast, a city in the sunlit country of Prima Alabasta. It follows the story of Irya Prasaad, a rogue, a thief, a vagabond who weaves through the internal conflicts of the city that is both a symbol of wealth and of poverty, oppressed by it's bureaucratic caste of desert elves, obsessed with order and perfection, oblivious the the plight of their indentured population.
Vagabond is estimated to be much larger than Dizzy Hearts, with a plot that bridges all routes. The game will have six character routes and a final route where each route provides a piece of the puzzle necessary to discover the treasure hidden in the vaults of Alabast. It is a romance visual novel with elements of mystery, action and adventure.
If 25k is unlocked, every backer who pledged more than $10 gets a digital copy of the game. So you don't have to get a specific pledge just for Vagabond.
Vagabond is something like Arabian Nights meets mystical high fantasy, with elves, dragon girls, a mystical race of ancient elves giving a vision of the birth of the world. Crystals, the source of an almost magical energy that can either protect the elves, or doom them. Vagabond is not only ambitious, it's off the wall ambitious.
I will be updating this periodically with more information as I get closer to unlocking this goal!
Risks and challenges
I am handling a vast majority of the development of Dizzy Hearts. In addition to being the artist, I am also: Concept designer, writer and scripter. I have assembled friends who have helped me put the DEMO together by helping with writing assets, editing and music.
If everyone on the team decided to leave the project if this Kickstarter fails, the art assets and structure I have built so far means I will still be able to continue the game by myself (albeit in a much smaller size/scale). However if it succeeds I will be able to make every asset that goes into the game that much better, and pay for premium assets to be including in game, such as OP/EDs, Animation and more.

Well, the problem with the Dakimakura is they require a lot of time to do, If you thought 1080p was large, Dakimakura require a canvas that is 8x larger, and detailed to perfection because it's being printed. That's why I'm having to wait until the game is completed (though there is a likelihood that I will actually have time to work on them and finish them before hand).
So I can't actually make mockups of them during the KS. However after the KS I will be discussing with everyone who pledged for a Daki what kind of things they'd like on it so I can really make them a labor of love for everyone on the Kickstarter.
That's partly why they will be limited edition, so people who have them can see an idea they had used and it's very unique. Whereas I will make a Dakimakura for my website and it will be different.
Thanks for asking. there won't be any DRM. I will have a $10 digital copy and a $20 boxed copy. For the boxed copy I'm hoping that the boxed copy and everything it provides will be incentive enough to buy the game. For the digital copy, it's more to support the studio and so I can make games for as long as I can. I won't be trying to DRM it to hell and back or persecute pirates, because I believe that piracy is a service issue.
So the service I intend to bring to Dizzy Hearts will be the best I can possibly make it so people have more incentive to buy, not pirate.
