Nereid II: The Seafarer's Marine Watch by Tangramatic
A classic timepiece with an automatic heart and a unique variant based from a 19th century nautical device. 14 days only!
Hello backers, I am Francis.
Back in 2016, I introduced the first Nereids and people loved it. I was able to deliver a watch concept that was designed from the ground up yet retaining the theme of the classic marine watch. This time I wanted to evolve the series and introduce a new concept with a fantastic typographical composition much like the 39a Bauhaus and the Nereid Argo.
Pledge note: All watches come with a standard leather strap (black or brown) and one extra strap (leather, crazy horse, canvas) or bracelet (milanese) from our store. Backers from Europe have their own early bird tiers, 6:00PM Sydney time AEST.
Should we hit the pledge goal and you missed out pledging, you continue pre-orders in the official website.
Nereid, the Benevolent Mariner
The Pacific has returned! The new Pacific is simpler and more in tune with the classic marine watch. It's named after the Pacific ocean by the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan in 1519 to describe its calm waters.
It uses the Miyota 8247 which has an extra 24-hour indicator giving it two subdials instead of one.
Variations. There are two dial colours, enamel white and sunburst blue. For the rose gold cases, the blue dial comes with rose gold hands as well.
How to pledge for the Nereid Pacific. There are two single pledge tiers, the early bird and the standard. If you like the steel version, do grab the early bird tier pledges as they are limited. To have the option of a rose gold case, you'll pledge using the standard tier which also comes with a travel case.
Sail with the Nereid Atlantic
The Nereid Atlantic is our new variation based from the engine order telegraph used in 19th century ships to deliver orders to the engine room.
It uses the venerable Miyota 9015, a modern movement that has been known to be one of the best in specs/value proposition.
Variations. The Atlantic shares the same dial colour variations as the Pacific along with the rose gold case/hands on the blue dial variant.
How to pledge for the Nereid Atlantic. The Atlantic has the same single pledge tiers as the Pacific, early bird and standard. To get the rose gold versions, you'll go for the standard tier.
How to pledge for multiple Nereids. I've created tiers for dual pledges depending on which watches you want to get with all options available to a standard tier but priced as an early bird. If you'd like to get more than two, you can always get it from our website after the campaign.
Nereids in Rose Gold
You may have noticed the rose gold case variations being offered. I found that its warm colours can be really nice to look at. These are PVD coated and are very resilient from scratches. You can pledge for them in the Standard and Dual tiers.
The Nereids you see in the campaign is slightly larger than the previous version as I had to redesign the case. The lugs are longer to prevent straps from chaffing against the case and to be able to use NATO straps better by applying less stress on the spring bars (which can cause it to buckle).
Typographic details adorn the case back around the display crystal which shows the movement. The Nereids have a water resistance rating of 10 atm.
Each watch comes with a standard leather strap along with extra ones you can choose below.
There are currently no availability for rose gold milanese bracelets but may get them if there's enough requests and that I find the quality of the coating to be satisfactory.
We can ship internationally. Do note some destinations require a bit more effort and patience for parcels to arrive. More on that later. The following is a general guide.
- Within Australia. Shipping is free. However, there's a GST charge of 10% which will appear as shipping rate in your pledge.
- Overseas (North America). Standard rate is $45 AUD
- Overseas (Europe). Standard rate is $65 AUD
- Everywhere else. Standard rate is $65 AUD.
This is using a standard courier which is sent from AusPost when it leaves Australia and picked up by your local courier (Royal Mail for UK and USPS for USA for example).
For Singapore backers, we'll automatically use EMS. For Latin America and China, you may have to allow at least four to eight weeks delivery if it's not DHL. This includes areas in Europe that are quite far from cities. Other notes, please see our shipping page.
We strongly recommend using a private courier for Europe and everywhere else like DHL Express or at least an EMS service. This will be an additional charge on top of the $65 AUD which we can do later using the web store.
Timeline. As a general rule, once the campaign ends it will take three months production and two months for quality assurance and shipping making a total of up to five months.
Quality assurance. As with past campaigns, making sure of quality is of highest priority, higher than even trying to deliver on the expected time frame. And when you do get what you pledge for, I am reachable to respond to your queries.
We'll send out a survey. This can be strap preferences, indication that you may change address during delivery, and many other important information. This can occur sometime November and reconfirmed before shipping.
April onwards will be the busiest as I will be verifying addresses and other preparations. This is assuming production passed all levels of quality assurance which we hope it does.
Once you receive your pledge reward, you have full support during the warranty period.
Warranty. All pledge rewards have a warranty of 2 years. We'd like to support backers a bit longer than usual this time. Do make use of this if ever you have trouble with your watches.
What you see are the prototypes. We strive to have the prototypes you see here to be as close to the production version as possible. Some changes may occur like for example, a change in factory that makes the dials and produces slightly thicker dial prints. It can be the strap factory who also makes canvas straps but has a different shade of brown or blue.
In some cases, it can be improvements to make production better or easier. Either way, you as backer, will know about it.
Make friends with local watchmakers. Your watch is covered by a warranty for 2 years when your pledge is shipped. However, we can arrange for your watchmaker to take care of your watch as warranty cover if you need a turnaround time faster than 2 months (standard time for a warranty resolution). Make sure to consult me first.
Lastly, feel free to ask questions. It's important for us to be trustworthy and transparent with our project. If there's something unclear or just a general comment please feel free to express them in our designated comments section or in private message.
Thanks for getting this far 😊
