Beg, Borrow and Zeal!
The Mr. Plastimime production has suffered a few technical issues over the last few weeks, with networks not quite working as they should and computers going down.
But all is not lost -- there have been some really exciting developments too!
As we come to the end of the year and start wrapping up before Christmas, the team at Mcasso Music have finalized the film's score and have done an amazing job! They really have gone above and beyond the brief (and what the budget allowed).
The Mcasso team feel the Mr. Plastimime score deserves to be recorded with a live string orchestra. They have started planning a recording in Bratislava in late January. We aim to film this process and will post an update when the team returns.
Recording a live orchestra will really elevate the sound quality and will emphasize the film's emotions even more! We cannot thank Mike MacClennan, Mike Connaris, Tom Martin and the rest of the Mcasso team enough for all their hard work and dedication to the film.
In addition to the film's score, Rushes have also been working on the finishing touches to the special effects. They have had a team of animators working on smoke simulation and fire effects, all adding a special drama to the film’s story as well as giving it a unique visual style. We are very grateful for Caroline Laing, Andy Hargreaves, Carl Grinter and the rest of the team at Rushes for their ongoing support and hard work.
Dan Pickering and Nick Lee of Annix Studios have come to our render rescue by supplying four render nodes to help with the final stages of CG. Max van der Merwe has been ploughing through the shot list while Daniele Baiardini has been working hard to composite all of the elements together. There is still a lot to do, but we are getting there!
The 2D facial animation is virtually complete and Dan has made great progress with the 2D dance sequence too. He now only has one section left to 'clean up'. This is the process of artworking his original pencil sketch animation. Below are some stills, some of you may even recognize a sketch from the rewards you should have received!
So, we apologize for the lack of updates recently but our heads have been down and totally focused on completing the film by the end of January. Our intention is to start submitting to film festivals early next year! Then, the world will hopefully be Mr. Plastimime's oyster!
Thank you for your support.
Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
