Radial-G is being developed by games industry veterans with previous experience of developing and publishing AAA games for Disney Black Rock and NCsoft, including titles such as Pure, Split-Second, the Guild Wars franchise, Aion and WildStar.
Main features for initial 1st release (coming Q3-2014)
Single player (SP) – It can be daunting going head-to-head against human opponents for the first time, or you may not always be connected to the internet. With this in mind, we will create a single player campaign so you can play against virtual opponents, helping you learn the tracks and boost your profile to get you prepared for the chaos of multi-player.
Multi-player (MP) – Race against up to 32 other human players in one-off races or championships and gain points for each race to show off your skills on the lobby leaderboard. Set lobby filters to find the game you want to play or set the rules to your liking.
Multiple environments – Tracks set across a variety of terrain types - each world will offer unique features and challenges to learn and master, with splits, loops, jumps and more to challenge even the most hardened racer.
Variety of race craft – Fill up your garage with ships to match your racing style as you progress. Perhaps you’ll take the risk and choose speed over defence? You’ll be too far ahead to worry anyway!
But one ship is not enough, we want to give you options
Oculus Rift support – Don your headset and become one with your craft for full immersion in the Radial-G world. Really feel like you’re inside the cockpit with full 360-degree viewing motion, giving you the ability to look around you to see the best racing lines, an approaching weapon pick-up or that opponent hot on your tail.
"NOculus" support (no Oculus Rift required) – We appreciate that not everyone has access to an Oculus Rift yet and some of you aren’t even interested in VR for gaming. So, we will develop the game to run and be just as much fun in “2D” flat-screen monitor display mode as well as the all-singing, all-dancing 3D VR Oculus version. You’re welcome!
Control methods – We want to allow you to play the way you want to play. We appreciate not everyone has an Xbox controller - although this is currently the best way to play - but we know everyone has a keyboard at least. We'll look at other controller support options.
Internal and external camera views - We understand that gamers like choice and not everyone likes cockpit camera views, so we will give you the option of internal or external!
Game modes (initial)
Single race – A quick burst of high speed action based upon your selection of track and vehicle. Perfect for those looking for a quick play session. Available for Single Player and Multi-player modes.
Quick race – Want to get to the action without the faff? Quick Race will drop you into the next available game lobby with space available, giving you just enough time to choose a race craft before you hit the track. Available for Single Player and Multi-player modes.
Championship – A series of set tracks to race in order. Score points for finishing within the top 10 on each track and aim to win gold by becoming overall championship winner.
Completing the first available championship (a selection of easy tracks) will unlock the next, harder championship, until all are available to select freely. Available for Single Player and Multi-player modes.
Standalone music soundtrack – One of the greatest things about wipeout when it was first launched on PlayStation back in 1996 was the phenomenal soundtrack that accompanied the game. We want to recreate that greatness with the soundtrack for Radial-G by working with some of the industry's greatest music composers.
We have some great talent in-house already, which you can hear in the single player demo and the Soundcloud link below but we want more!
Features for future releases (coming late-2014/early-2015)
Weapons – Unlock and equip a range of weapons to help boost your offensive and defensive options. Blast your opponents out of the way, cripple their electronics, lay deadly traps or boost your shields to gain the advantage in each race.
Boost cards– Unlock and apply a selection of one-time-use special powers to give you the leading edge in a particular race. Start with your favourite weapon pre-loaded or guarantee a boost start off the line, there will be plenty of ways to tip the odds in your favour.
Customisable profile – Build up your statistics with each completed race, allowing you to unlock and race in more types of craft across a variety of environments. You’ll also be able to save your customised loadouts to quickly access your favourite combinations; trust us, you’re going to need them to take advantage of each track type and requirements.
Achievements – We plan on integrating a series of gameplay-based achievements to reward your skills and progression. These achievements could tie into hidden content unlocks – Shiny!
Game modes (future)
Elimination – Sometimes it’s just as important who’s in last place and in this case, you want to make sure it isn't you! After a timed countdown, the last positioned player will be eliminated from the race until only one player remains! Available for Single Player and Multi-player modes.
Lap attack – You may be the best when it comes to aggression and competition against others, but what about when it’s just you and the circuit with nothing but a clock to race against?
Endurance – For the truly hardcore racer, or those with a lot of time to spare, these races will test the limits of your attention span and ability to focus over long periods. You might even want to find yourself a co-driver! Available for Single Player and Multi-player modes.
Circuit runners – The ultimate challenge for the speed freak. The longer you survive, the faster you go until you crash and take yourself out of the race. Survive all the way through the speed zones on each track to be able to call yourself a true track master. Available for Single Player mode only.
Track editor - Whilst we pride ourselves in our track creation and layout skills, we know it's much more fun to create your own devilishly fiendish tracks to show off and share with your friends and the gaming community. Therefore we plan on creating a solid toolset to allow you to create tubular tracks filled with game assets in an environment of your choice.
We have the experience, the knowledge, the desire and passion for what we do, we just need you to help with the funding to help us deliver on our promise.

Other members of the team come from a background in serious simulation and have years of experience creating and developing real-time content and virtual reality environments for the most picky of customers. They know what it takes to create a believable, solid experience for users, coupled with the technology requirements of low latency, highly detailed, optimised experiences that operate at high frame rates to give maximum levels of immersion.
We have already been hard at work on the single player demo, which you can download now and try out for yourself right now.
We have a small amount of funding already to start turning the single player experience into the multi-player demo to be released soon after the end of the Kickstarter funding period. We expect that this will be available by mid-September, in order to allow us to test and update the code based on the new SDK from Oculus VR for the DK2 HMDs which should (*fingers-crossed) be shipping in July.

Multi-player demo – Tear up the track against upto 32 other opponents! The demo will showcase the multi-player aspect of the game with some neat additional features.
1st release – Get a digital download of the 1st release of the game when it is ready. This is expected to include 3 worlds, 3 tracks per world, with 3 craft to choose from. Will include single and multi-player game modes as described above. Additional content will have to be purchased as DLC when released.
All releases – When we say all, we mean all! Get the 1st release plus all subsequent content updates released afterwards. However this will also grant you access to all versions released for other platforms! (Depending upon stretch goals reached).
Access to private backer-only forums – We will grant you access to the private, backer-only forums where we will be sharing the latest news and exclusive updates during development, as well as screenshots and new concept art, first before any other websites!
Credits – Have your name up in lights! We will thank each and every backer accordingly in the game credits, meaning you’ll be listed with your pledge level so you can show off to all your friends. Don’t worry, we’ll contact all backers before the credits are published to check you are happy for your full name to appear, or you can let us know your gamer name instead.
Platinum ship – Gain access to the platinum version of the single player demo ship which will not be in the full game for players purchasing it outside of Kickstarter. Show off your early involvement and support!
Backer t-shirt – Wear your allegiance to the game with pride! Palmer Luckey does for games he’s backed (yes, he's backed us!) Printed on high quality shirts, you’ll get to stand out from the crowd for years to come.
Game OST – One of the areas we loved about games like wipEout, Guild Wars and Skyrim were the epic soundtracks that came with them. With the Radial-G soundtrack you’ll be able to get lost in the futuristic beats that are within the game, outside of the game!
We aim to release the OST on Spotify, iTunes and Google Music Play Store post-release so this is your chance to get it first. We’ll send you digital download codes too once it is released on the above platforms.
Game art book – We've created a ton of concept art for the game showcasing race craft ideas, environments, UI design, weapon systems, character profiles and so much more. We’ll be releasing elements of it over the course of development but this is your chance to have all of it in high-res digital location to pour over forever more.
3D-printed model – We will create a custom, 3D-printed model of the ship (1 of 4 designs to choose from) just for you! These are extremely limited edition.
Create an achievement - Work with the development team to create and name an achievement. Be credited as such in the team.
AlterGaze 3D-printed mobile VR headset – These are really, really cool. A mobile VR solution for your mobile phone! We’ve teamed up with AlterGaze to offer five lucky backers the chance to own a customised AlterGaze mobile VR headset sporting the game logo in 3D integrated into the design.
Track Obstacle - Work with the dev team to create your own track obstacle and make your mark on the game!
Be part of the storyline - we will incorporate your name into the main storyline as a key character
Help Design a Track – You will get to work with the developers to create a track in an environment of your choosing. Be part of the game development team and get listed in the credits! These sessions will most likely be carried out over Skype.
Be a Boss Rival - We will take your photo and characterise you into a rival boss in the game! Be part of the game and the challenge that all other players face-off against!
Studio tour and dinner with the developers – Come visit the studio and see the game being made as we near final release. Meet the developers behind the game and learn about our design processes, discuss your favourite elements of the game and even have a chance to sit in a brainstorm session for future updates. You’ll even get to pose for a photo with the developers to be posted on the official game social media channels. Then it’s time for some food!
Dinner will be held at a restaurant of the developers’ choosing, with consideration of your dietary requirements of course. Flights, transport from the airport and one night in a top-notch Brighton hotel will be included. NICE!

We believe in working together and cross-promotion and support. Therefore we have joined the "Kicking It Forward" campaign and will pledge 5% of our final profits from our campaign towards other Kickstarter projects if ours is successful. Note that profits means any funds leftover after the campaign is successful, the development is complete and all other costs have been covered.

The biggest risk, and challenge we face is being able to get funded and reach our initial target goal successfully.
We’ve spent a lot of time preparing the Kickstarter launch, spreading the word about the game and our development intentions, now our fate is in your hands, the loyal Kickstarter community.
We’re positive that you will agree with us that this is a game worth taking further and releasing, so looking at actual development risks and challenges, there are a couple we have to overcome:
- Supporting 30 players in online multiplayer races
- Tablet optimisation and control scheme integration
- Developing for Sony PS4 / Morpheus
There are various tools and techniques we have experience of for developing online racing games, all of which we will utilise for Radial-G. If we can't find the tool we need, we'll write our own!
Taking a game designed to run on PC and adapt it for tablet devices means a lot of optimisation of the geometry and having to reduce the feature set to accommodate the limitations of the hardware. However with the additional budget from the stretch goals associated with the tablet versions, we are confident we can achieve this within the limits.
Finally, in regards to Sony Morpheus support, we have begun discussions already with Unity and Sony as to what we need to do to bring the game to this new platform. What we don't know is when the hardware will be available to buy nor whether we will have the full support of Sony or not behind us. However we are confident that we will be able to overcome the particular hurdles (mostly admin) in order to have a version for Sony Morpheus. We are excited by the potential and want to do everything in our power to make it happen!
We have met and had Shuhei Yoshida play the game. He loved it so much he's backed us too, as well as enabled us to fast-track our Sony developer application and arranged for us to receive a PS4 dev kit and Morpheus headset in order to speed up our plans for PS4 support!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
