Thanks for checking out my Zombie Deck campaign! I am working hard to create a deck of zombie playing cards that will feature 54 unique illustrations! Each of these illustrations will be of my backers as zombies so if you have ever wanted to see yourself as a zombie or just love zombies, this Kickstarter campaign is for you!
I have used Kickstarter in the past to help publish a tabletop game I created called Pieces of Eight. In order to produce this deck, I need to raise money for the initial print-run. I have set the funding goal at $3,500 because that is the minimum amount of money I need to pay for the initial print and send decks to backers. Kickstarter has proven to be an excellent way for me to not only raise the money I need to get a project off the ground but also a great way to find people who share my interests in card & game design.
For this project, I am going to draw my backers for the cards in the deck! There will be a unique drawing for each of the 54 cards from 2-A in all suits! Check the reward tiers on the right to see which one you want to be! All of the cards will be in color. I have already done some preliminary artwork as you can see from this campaign but I will only use those as a last resort if I don't get enough backers to finish out the deck. When the campaign is complete, I will send out a questionnaire where you can identify which card number or which suit you would prefer and I will award these on a first come, first served basis. *If you contribute and then send me a message asking for a particular card, I will commit that card to you before the campaign is completed and post what is remaining in the updates section.* I will also ask if you want to have any additions to your drawing like the bird in the example below (I love drawing birds :) or perhaps a hatchet, arrow, etc. sticking into your chest or something. That was a weird sentence :)
There are some guidelines for the artwork that will be going into the final published deck. I won't include any children in the published version of the deck as zombie children tend to be off-putting to some. I have drawn children as zombies in the past and will do so again if you really want me to but I will only do those for the people who contribute at the $75 or $125 level. For those contributions, I will have to order decks from a different printer for just that backer so I can't include those orders in the initial print-run. These tiers are also available for those who want a personal and unique deck of cards or if they missed out on getting one of the rewards for the final print of the deck.
For each card, I will ask you to send me a few photos. You don't have to dress up as a zombie for the pics but you do need to strike your best Zombie pose! This will be a collaborative process so I will send you my work as I do it and ask for your approval of the image. I want to make sure everyone is satisfied with the work I do so I am not going to just draw something, print it, and hope you like it. I won't move forward on a drawing until I have your say so. I have posted some examples below of some prototype cards:
4K - If the campaign can break the $4K mark, I will open up Add-Ons so people can buy additional decks at a reduced price, uncut sheets, and other items with personal illustrations on them. These will include t-Shirts, mouse pads, mugs, etc...
5K - If I can raise 5K, I will be able to order the initial print run in casino-quality (310gsm) card-stock. This will make the cards feel much nicer to the touch and present a more professional deck that is the same you would find in a casino. Before hitting this Stretch Goal, the card stock will be 280gsm. For more information on card stock, please check out this link.
6K - The $6K mark will also enable me to print a separate deck of another color. This is intended for our poker players by giving another color deck for alternate shuffling. The original deck will have a black back while the opposite color deck will be red. Once this level is hit, I will offer a choice of which color deck(s) you want and like the $4K Bonus, I will be able to offer these additional decks at a discounted price.
Prototype Uncut Sheet Proof (All cards will be in color in the final print):
*The artwork presented here does not necessarily depict the final version and is meant to provide an example of the finished product.

They do everything: Cards, dice, boards, boxes, etc. and work very well with designers to ensure everything is perfect before the final print. They also offer great deals and discounts for bulk order pricing!

Thanks for checking out my campaign! I will post updates as the campaign progresses. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will answer them as quickly as I can. I have more artwork I can post if you would like to see more and if you have any suggestions regarding design, I am open to it!
Risks and challenges
My Risks and Challenges are often time and complexity. Time because I never seem to have enough of it and complexity because I tend to make my projects more complex than they need to be. This doesn't really present a risk to my backers but it does challenge me. I have every intention of making this deck of cards as good or better than any I have worked on before and I will do my best to not miss my deadlines and provide regular weekly updates to my backers on the development of the cards.
I have given myself until October to have this deck fully illustrated and in my backer's hands. I plan on finishing long before this but wanted to be realistic. My challenge will be to complete the deck by September and that is my goal.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
