Just 2 Weeks Left!

Sweet Familia!

Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed this far!!! We have just 2 weeks to meet our goal. We are at 10%, but I still believe we can make it to 100% with support from those who believe in our dream to offer free concerts to amazing social justice organizations and schools around the US & Europe.

We have had some GREAT FEATURES since our last update, which also keeps me hopeful that we can make it!

Bitch Magazine gave our Kickstarter a fabulous shout out on their blog: http://bitchmagazine.org/post/b-sides-feminist-music-projects-to-get-behind

Renowned Riotfolk musician and writer Ryan Harvey interviewed me and wrote a great feature in Art Is My Occupation: http://www.artismyoccupation.org/news_and_projects/2012/feb/12/reclaiming-thunder-taina-asili-y-la-banda-rebelde/

Blogtalk radio show Saturday Morning with Joy Keys did a live interview with me discussing our Kickstarter campaign, social justice issues, parenthood and more. Joy has interviewed some of my favorite artists including Ursula Rucker, Sweet Honey In the Rock, Nneka, Meshell Ndegeocello and Les Nubians: https://www.facebook.com/saturdaymorningswithjoykeys

I also had the please of being interviewed by Radio DJ and entertainment lawyer Paul Rapp on his Splatto Festival show on WBCR-LP 97.7FM Berkshire Community Radio.

The Leeway Foundation showed us some Love on their blog as well. In 2005 I received a Transformation Award from the Leeway Foundation for my work in art and social change: http://leewayfoundation.wordpress.com/2012/02/23/support-taina-asili-fall-tour/#more-6427

Some other really amazing artists gave us sweet shout outs on their blogs including: writer/musician Raquel Z. Rivera, author of New York Ricans from the Hip Hop Zone, in her blog Cascabel de Cobre; poet/writer Carmen Mojica, author of Hija de Madre, in her blog Mujer, Interrumpida; and writer/musician Leslie Mano Cockrum in her blog Heroine is Zeroine.

With Appreciation and Hope in my Heart,

5 days in... radio and blogs

We are 5 days in and 5 percent towards our goal! Thank you so much to those who donated and spread the word to help us get this dream movin! This may seem like a big gap to you, but we are getting close to $1000 and there is a lot of buzz in the air making me even more hopeful.

I have been seeing a lot buzz on Facebook which is super helpful. If you haven't yet please consider sharing the link on your Facebook page with a sweet little shout out. This can really go along way!

We had a great interview on SUNY Binghamton's WHRW's radio show The Signal with Chris Kocher on Feb. 4. We gave folks a preview of what we were getting ready to launch. This was followed by an amazing performance in Binghamton the following weekend!

Worldsofchange.org, Goddard College's IMA blog, gave us an excellent feature which was just posted today. I graduated from the IMA Transformative Language Arts program in 2008. http://worldsofchange.com/2012/02/14/reclaim-the-thunder-support-of-our-grads/

I am so excited to be welcomed back to Saturday Morning with Joy Keys on blogtalkradio on Feb. 25th! Joy has interviewed some of my favorite artists including Ursula Rucker, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Nneka, Meshell Ndegeocello and Les Nubians! Listen in from anywhere in the world: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/joykeys/2012/02/25/joy-keys-chats-with-musician-activist-and-mom-taina-asili

The day before, on Feb. 24th, we will also do an interview and performance on WBCR-LP 97.7FM Berkshire Community Radio's Splatto Festival with radio host, entertainment lawyer and writer Paul Rapp from 3-5pm. You can listen in on the radio and online live stream at http://www.berkshireradio.org

And much more coming...

So much Love and Gratitude!
