Just 2 Weeks Left!
Sweet Familia!
Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed this far!!! We have just 2 weeks to meet our goal. We are at 10%, but I still believe we can make it to 100% with support from those who believe in our dream to offer free concerts to amazing social justice organizations and schools around the US & Europe.
We have had some GREAT FEATURES since our last update, which also keeps me hopeful that we can make it!
Bitch Magazine gave our Kickstarter a fabulous shout out on their blog: http://bitchmagazine.org/post/b-sides-feminist-music-projects-to-get-behind
Renowned Riotfolk musician and writer Ryan Harvey interviewed me and wrote a great feature in Art Is My Occupation: http://www.artismyoccupation.org/news_and_projects/2012/feb/12/reclaiming-thunder-taina-asili-y-la-banda-rebelde/
Blogtalk radio show Saturday Morning with Joy Keys did a live interview with me discussing our Kickstarter campaign, social justice issues, parenthood and more. Joy has interviewed some of my favorite artists including Ursula Rucker, Sweet Honey In the Rock, Nneka, Meshell Ndegeocello and Les Nubians: https://www.facebook.com/saturdaymorningswithjoykeys
I also had the please of being interviewed by Radio DJ and entertainment lawyer Paul Rapp on his Splatto Festival show on WBCR-LP 97.7FM Berkshire Community Radio.
The Leeway Foundation showed us some Love on their blog as well. In 2005 I received a Transformation Award from the Leeway Foundation for my work in art and social change: http://leewayfoundation.wordpress.com/2012/02/23/support-taina-asili-fall-tour/#more-6427
Some other really amazing artists gave us sweet shout outs on their blogs including: writer/musician Raquel Z. Rivera, author of New York Ricans from the Hip Hop Zone, in her blog Cascabel de Cobre; poet/writer Carmen Mojica, author of Hija de Madre, in her blog Mujer, Interrumpida; and writer/musician Leslie Mano Cockrum in her blog Heroine is Zeroine.
With Appreciation and Hope in my Heart,
Taina Asili
