Who Am I? What Do I Make?
My name is Taimat, and I’m the owner, creator, and single employee of Taimat Tea, a small online tea shop. I’m a one-man show, and I’ve been creating geek and gamer tea blends for the past two years.
I create my own recipes, source my own ingredients from other small businesses when possible, and mix every tea in small batches.
It’s my ambition to make people happy through the joy of tea, whether that be by tea that sparkles, tea that heals, or tea that simply comforts and tastes good.
I already have nearly a dozen handcrafted blends in stock or soon to be released, including one medicinal blend that has received very positive feedback in the testing stage. I have experience, and all I need is a bit of funding.
Why Kickstarter? Why Now?
In the past, I’ve always used my own paychecks from my main job to finance my tea business, but in my industry, work is scarce this time of year, and funds are low.
But creativity doesn’t rest, and I’ve dreamed up a new tea that I’d love to see become a reality — a tea to offer relief to those struggling with anxiety, stress, and sleepless nights.
I’m calling it “Royal Lullaby,” as an homage to the Legend of Zelda series, and I’ve been doing loads of research into calming, sedating herbs and flowers. I know exactly which ingredients I want to use, but I need your help to procure them.
Why Anti-Anxiety Tea?
I was diagnosed with generalized anxiety disorder at the age of thirteen, and I have many friends with similar diagnoses. And even for those who are neurotypical, the daily grind of work and trying to strike a balance within the rest of your life can wear you down. I want to get this product out as soon as possible so that I can help as many people as I can, and quickly.
If you struggle with anxiety yourself, or know someone who does, then you know what a battle every day can become. I want to give people a little something to help cope with the battery of stresses we all endure, and with help from you, I’m confident I can make a positive impact in people’s lives.
What Exactly Will the Tea Contain?
My anti-anxiety tea will be a blend of rose petals, chamomile flowers, lavender flowers, peony flowers, poppy flowers, oatstraw, scullcap, passion flower, lemon balm, lemon peel, and valerian root.
Each ingredient has been researched and chosen for its calming, relaxing, anti-anxiety properties.
This will be a caffeine-free blend.
What’s the Schedule?
What’s the Budget?
I have already sourced the ingredients, and the total cost of herbs and flowers for one batch of tea, including shipping, is a bit under $300.
For packaging of the tea, the cost of 120 sample-size tins (the smallest, most cost-effective order size) is $80, and the cost of 100 heat-seal bags is another $20. The cost of 40 canisters (the smallest, most cost-effective order size) plus shipping is another $100.
Personalized mugs cost $12.50 each, and there will be ten available.
Reaching the Kickstarter target should take between 50-75 pledges, and the cost of shipping packaging for that many orders will be between $50-75.
Shipping costs for each package will be between $3-4 when shipped as small packets via airmail.
Kickstarter fees must also be considered.
Total costs: $1000 (~¥112,000)
- $1100 (~¥123,000): every order includes a heart-shaped tea strainer
- $1300 (~¥145,000): every order includes a heart-shaped teaspoon
- $2,000 (~¥223,000): complete restock of all teas in my store, making them all available to be selected by backers, including the teas I’m currently running low on or sold out of
- $3,000 (~¥335,000): new tiers that include bottles of locally-sourced Japanese cherry blossom honey
- $6,000 (~¥669,000): every order includes a silicone flower-shaped coaster
- $9,000 (~¥1,000,000): enhanced tea recipe that includes dried fruit and edible glitter that shimmers and sparkles (backers can choose either the original recipe or the enhanced recipe)
- $12,000 (¥1,337,000): heat-sealed bags will be replaced by tin tea canisters of a comparable volume

Risks and challenges
The biggest risk is probably delays in ingredient shipping or the seizure of ingredients by customs.
To best prevent this, I am ordering only from suppliers that I have worked with before. I have successfully received tea ingredients from these companies in the past, and they were well-packed and labeled so as to get through the mail system and through customs with minimal difficulty.
Another potential risk would be the blessing of popularity. If I were to receive an extraordinary amount of pledges, then the packaging time would increase, which might result in delays. I will do my very best to minimize such delays, however.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
