The Tailfin AeroPack is a product family of bike bags and racks that allow you to carry your gear in a totally new way. They let you carry your gear faster, further and with less hassle - whatever bike you ride.
The three models...
The AeroPack features incredible stability, compatibility with virtually any bike, lightweight, aerodynamic and super easy to use.
However you ride, wherever you go, there is an AeroPack model for you...
Each model shares the same 20 litre, waterproof, roll-top pack...
How they differ is the way in which they are secured...
AeroPack Carbon and Alloy: Integrated, all-in-one bag and rack...
AeroPack Trunk: Top bag to fit the original T1 rack...
A wide mouth 20L, waterproof, roll-top pack makes packing considerably easier - both on and off the bike.
Ben Davies, long-distance and endurance cyclist, tells us why he's using the Tailfin AeroPack Carbon and what he's taking on the Transcontinental Race.
Tailfin founder and Mechanical Engineer, Nick Broadbent, explains why he developed the AeroPack and the key features and benefits that make it so awesome.
Whichever AeroPack you choose, they all share these four overall advantages:
- FITS VIRTUALLY ANY BIKE, WITHOUT TOOLS, IN SECONDS
- ULTIMATE RIDE QUALITY AND STIFFNESS
- AERO FOR A FASTER RIDE WITH LESS EFFORT
- INNOVATIVE FEATURES FOR SEAMLESS USABILITY
Fits virtually any bike, without tools, in seconds
There is a model to fit virtually any bike - be it road, gravel, MTB, fat or full suspension bike - whether it has rim or disc brakes - Quick Release or Thru Axles - boost or even super boost spacing.
To fit almost any bike, simply swap out your rear axle with one of our axles. We can help you select the correct axle after the project has ended.
(If you want to understand more about the differences between QR and Thru Axles you can read this blog post.)
Once you've attached the Tailfin Axle, you can attach or remove the AeroPack without tools, in seconds...
Every product in the AeroPack family has been designed to be quick-release to save you precious time at the start or end of a ride.
Removing or attaching the AeroPack Carbon or Alloy can be done in less than 10 seconds...
Since the AeroPack is supported by a rack, it avoids any stress or strain on the seat or seatpost. This means it can take considerably more weight and is also suitable for bikes that have dropper posts...
The AeroPack Carbon and Alloy have a tri-pivot design, and joints that are designed with full suspension in mind...
Ultimate ride quality and stiffness
Every AeroPack model is held rock solid to your bike via a rigid structure, well-engineered joints and connectors - not flimsy fabric straps.
Eradicating the ‘tailwag’ that plagues seatpack systems holds your gear solidly in place, especially when climbing out of the saddle or descending at high speed - giving you more confidence and energy to ride faster and further.
Aero for a faster ride, with less effort
All three products in the AeroPack lineup are designed to sit directly behind the rider, nearly completely sheltered from the wind. This allows the AeroPack to deliver aerodynamic performance that gives nothing away to traditional seatpacks, and gives you a significant advantage over traditional side-mounted panniers.
Additionally, the AeroPack contains Twin Stacking Straps that allow you to stack extra gear on top of the pack in the wind shadow of the rider. From the wind tunnel tests, moving a 9L bar bag from the front of the bike to the top of the AeroPack saved around 10-20 Watts of power.
The twin stacking straps are super versatile and allow you to carry almost anything...
Innovative features for seamless usability
Two types of high-performance laminate fabrics are high-frequency welded (not sewn) to be utterly waterproof...
It’s super easy to pack, unpack or organise your belongings - especially when it’s mounted to the bike.
At Tailfin we are a big fan of versatility, so the AeroPack has also been designed to carry up to a 13" laptop.
The dual side pockets make it easy to access small items and the twin light mounts help you to be seen at night or in poor visibility.
Whether you carry a lot or a little, you can use the original T1 Rack with the AeroPack Trunk on its own, or with the side pannier bags...
Cycling is an industry obsessed by weight. We agree that it is important but we also believe that it's not the only metric that should be compared...

Risks and challenges
Tailfin was started in 2015 and we launched our T1 Rack and SL Side Panniers on Kickstarter in 2016. We delivered all the pledges successfully in 2017 and have delighted our new customers who have on average rated us 4.8/5.
All our products are engineered in the U.K. and manufactured in Taiwan. During the manufacturing phase of the previous Kickstarter project we spent many months in Taiwan building a strong relationship with our Taiwanese partners. They are completely adept at manufacturing high-quality cycling equipment and they have the ability to overcome every manufacturing eventuality.
We've spent over a year working on the AeroPack, we've had four major versions and with each version we've learnt and ironed out any obvious problems or issues with the fundamental design. Saying that, no development project is straightforward and should the project experience any delays then we will communicate to our customers to keep them updated and in the loop.
Prior to Tailfin, Nick Broadbent, CEng, spent over 10 years developing and engineering dozens of new and innovative products for both large and small companies - some of the products he worked on included: ultra-high volume drug delivery devices, lab robotics, MRI equipment, remote controlled electro-mechanical products, high volume polymer & paper packaging, SatNav products, robotic pharmaceutical automation, frozen food & beverage equipment, and optical measuring equipment. Many of these products are significantly more complex (but not as cool) as Tailfin products, but thankfully it has put us in to a strong position to be able to deliver any project on time and to an exceptionally high spec.
