Who is TAD?
It would be better to ask "What is TAD?"
Ok then, what is TAD about?
If you are asking "What does TAD stand for?" the answer is this: TAD stands, unequivocally, for Wonder. "No," you say, "the actual letters T-A-D, what do they signify?" The answer to that question is complex. We recommend you watch the "Director's Cut" and follow along as the story unfolds over the next thirty days.
Here we are, at Now
Friends, welcome to the emergent future. Want some old news? Information travels faster than ever before. Ideas live and die before they are a glimmer in their mother's eye. We now live on the surface of the Google Earth, where people are cameras and corporations are people. So technically, corporations are cameras.
So. How do you feel, now that this little blue marble has become an increasingly complicated place?
Yes, it may seem overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. The TAD Conference was created as a grassroots effort to simplify the complex. A way to untangle the knotted Christmas-tree lights of our shared destiny, as thinkers, dreamers, and citizens of Earth. And our brave TAD presenters rose to the challenge.
TAD is for Everyone
It makes no difference if you are an accomplished leader, or simply a visionary who hasn't done much yet. A CEO or a CFO or a CSO or high school dropout. Or a high school graduate. Or GED recipient. Or perhaps a citizen of Djibouti, which is in the horn of Africa.
Here's the point. We may look different, have extremely wide disparity in income, different levels of access to clean water and global mobility, but what we all share in common is the ability to HAVE IDEAS. Whether it's a good idea or a bad idea, an idea that will bloom and yield sweet nectar, or a tender bud that is caught in an early frost; it is still, in its very essence, an idea. And TAD conference atendees were treated to a smorgasbord of ideas, direct from farm to table.
IDEAS are at the core of what TAD is all about. This documentary film will tell the story of these unique individuals on a serendipitous pilgrimage to their pure wellspring of ideas, the simplest and quietest oasis tucked away in a cacophony of panicked screaming and stifling heat.
The Little Film that Could
The TAD conference took place at the historic Jam Handy soundstage in Detroit, with a lean and talented documentary film crew. And the results were thought-provoking, heart-warming, sometimes confusing. We are currently working tirelessly in post-production, but TAD is a mere sprout far beneath a towering jungle canopy of media giants.
In an effort to make sure the fledgling TAD story is told, we are now in the process of raising funds to accelerate and finish the production. This involves capturing a small amount of additional footage, as well as finishing the editorial, color and sound.
In summary, we need funds to pay the artists. You know them as the magic-makers of cinema: Producer, DP, Sound Operator, Gaffer, Editor, Colorist and Mixer. Police and Fire personnel. And Talent! We are a micro-budget production, so we'll still be very lean. But we'll hire who we can with the funds we raise, and complete the rest of the work ourselves. So what this boils down to is the more you donate, the less likely we are to screw it up.
You Are a Very Generous Person
So you know how it works, Kickstarter is all or nothing, we don't see any of the funds unless we reach our goal. And for this reason we have set our goal relatively low; but our sincere hope is that the flames of enthusiasm will be fanned, and that we will surpass our humble goal tenfold. Of course our gratitude will be shown in the form of many desirable Kickstarter rewards, just a few of which are pictured below.
But please... don't confuse material promises with the genuine and heartfelt appreciation that will take root, deep in our hearts, when you help us raise TEN TIMES the amount of funds we are asking for.
Risks and challenges
This team is made up of a diverse group of passionate people with borderline psychopathic attention to detail and fearsome follow-through skills. However as underdogs with the odds against us, we are certainly realistic and know that we are likely to face unseen challenges, such as production delays, mean people, days when we are feeling a little down, etc. But here is our sincere promise: In the face of whatever adversity we may face, our team is like a Hydra, our willingness to crush enemies unmercifully is unwavering, and our commitment to the quality of the art is eternal: We will not rest until this unique story reaches the masses.
Our mission is to win, and to win big, in a way in which it might almost seem like a bad sportsmanship kind of winning. And like any voyage into uncharted territory, there may be some bumps along the way, but most of us are in therapy or have a solid support system.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
