Production-Ready Controller Design at GDC 2019

 Greetings!

We wanted to provide a brief update to let people know that we'll be at  the Game Developers Conference on March 20-22, 2019 in San Francisco,  CA.

Production-ready haptic controller design
Production-ready haptic controller design

In contrast to prior years,  rather than having a booth in the Moscone Center's South Hall, this year  we will have a meeting room (N2408) in the North Hall so we can focus  more on business development meetings.  We're looking to establish  partnerships with location-based entertainment (LBE) VR system  integrators as well as non-gaming partners.

We plan to have both  VR and non-VR haptic demos in our meeting room to highlight the  responsive feedback of our production-ready controller design (mentioned  on UploadVR in December). The production design (see neighboring image)  embodies the learning from the prototypes shown last year at CES and  GDC, along with manufacturability improvements.

The production  design is also simpler and more modular, allowing users to configure the  controllers with or without magnet sockets (used to form new  peripherals on the fly) and to use the controllers in the PC VR  ecosystem of their choice.  Add-on brackets enable this modularity.

If you'll be at GDC and are interested in trying a demo, please email us at our info@ email address and we'll try to arrange a demo for you as we set up our  meeting schedule.

For the rest of you, we look forward to seeing you at future trade shows and continuing to share our story with you.

Thanks,
  Tactical Haptics

Looking good, sorry I can't be at GDC this year. Hope it goes well!

I know it seems like a lot of iterations, but the device needed to get simpler before it could be a viable product. The design we showed at GDC and CES represented this huge paradigm shift. The above design is just a cleaned up version of last year's design. Part of what has taken a long time is as we've made the hardware simpler, the software has had to become more complex. Now the software development has almost caught up again with the hardware. I also have a hard time believing how long it's been since I pressed "go" to launch the kickstarter project.

Regardless, thanks for your continued interest and patience. =)

@Phillippe We probably won't relaunch a kickstarter, but we have other plans that we'll be able to talk about more in the coming months...

Thanks for your continues interest and patience!

Looking great. So... when will you relaunch your campaign?

There has to be _so_ many iterations of this hardware now! Looks good! Can't believe how much time there has been since the campaign ended, nice to see you're still working on it 😀
