About this project
As airline passengers travelling with young children, we found the need for a device to mount the kids’ tablets securely, so they could watch their favourite programmes, hands-free, leaving them able to hold their favourite teddy or comforter and perhaps even fall asleep.
As time went on we wanted TabletHookz to be more that our initial idea and ensure viewers of any age or height could use them, and not limit their usage to aircraft. It's taken nearly two years to get this far and a few weeks ago we had our first patent granted.
We got to work designing and producing hundreds of slightly different prototypes and tweaking them to create the best , most secure tablet and smartphone mount that we could that will safely hold a device of any size or model and keep it safe
The way Kickstarter crowd funding works is relatively simple. A campaign is created to try and find people, who like your idea or product and believe in our ability to deliver. These people (known as backers) will pledge a financial amount in return for a reward, so in this case it is pledging an amount to pre-order our product.
The aim is that enough people will back the campaign to reach the financial target required to get things up and running and get your rewards to you. Only when/if we reach our campaign target, do Kickstarter actually collect the pledged amount from backers.
A stretch goal is something a campaign may offer once they achieve, or are close to achieving their initial target, sometimes for free, sometimes in return for a slightly higher pledge.
We've now unlocked our stretch goals. Current backers may increases their pledges to include these or select a new reward which includes them (see below for upgrade options). If we smash our target then we will look to give back some (if not all) of that increase to our backers.
Car Adapter stretch goal
The car adapter stretch goal allows the TabletHookz to be mounted to the back of a headrest in a car.
Select colour stretch Goal
The ability to select a colour is now included in the new rewards. If you select a reward which includes colour selection you will be asked to select your colour when we collect all backer details.
Pledges prior to 3rd April 2017 will include
A TabletHookz sets will come with their own individual Microfibre bag big enough for the TabletHookz and other items you may choose to carry with them, like earphones. Existing backers may upgrade their pledge to include the options listed below.
Pledges post 3rd April 2017 will include

Current backer upgrades
Current backers may now increases their pledges to include both of the above items.

‘We’ are Mike and Katie and we live in Derby in the United Kingdom with our two children (who feature in the video and some of our product photos). As a young family, we know only too well that anything that makes travelling more pleasant is welcome, our children were the inspiration behind TabletHookz.
We have created a company called TabletHookz Limited for our business. Mike works as an airline pilot and Katie previously worked as a flight attendant, but since having children, has retrained and now works as a teaching assistant in our local school.
TabletHookz is a registered trademark and our concept & designs are covered by international designs and patents
This is our re-launch on Kickstarter following an unsuccessful launch in November 2016 (4 months ago). Since then we have managed to raise some further capital so our financial goal is now much smaller. With the invaluable help of the Kickstarter community (thank-you) who gave us great feedback on our first campaign - we are trying again.
Thanks for reading this far and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch with us.
Risks and challenges
All projects have risks but we'd like to think we have mitigated most if not all of them. We have had samples made, our prototypes (made of the same material as the final ones) have been in use for a number of months. We've chosen our suppliers, they have tested our production models in preparation for the plastic injection moulding process (flow and tooling). We're ready to put the parts together and the logistics are all in place for getting the product to you.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
