This June, Sybarite5 will record its latest album, OUTLIERS.
Over the past 10 years, we have worked tirelessly to create electrifying, eclectic repertoire for string quintet by forming and cultivating relationships with composers all around the world. OUTLIERS is the culmination of these efforts, and consists of 11 works by 10 young, acclaimed American composers. This will be our first album of entirely new music written just for us!
We will record OUTLIERS at Systems2 studios in Brooklyn under the supervision of the brilliant, Grammy-winning recording engineer and producer Paul Zinman. The album features the following works:
Andy Akiho - Revolve (2012)
Kenji Bunch - Allemande pour Tout le Monde (2015)
Eric Byers - Pop Rocks (2013) & Sarabande (2014)
Shawn Conley - Yann’s Flight (2013)
Mohammed Fairouz - Muqaddamah (2014)
Jessica Meyer - Getting Home (... I must be) (2015)
Daniel Bernard Roumain - Allemande for Toussaint L'Overture (2015)
Dan Visconti - Hitchhikers Tales (2006-2012)
Michi Wiancko - Blue Bourée (2014)
Lev “Ljova” Zhurbin - Gi-gue-ly (2015)
This project is a decade in the making, and represents what Sybarite5 is all about – building an enduring canon of repertoire for string quintet. This is a project we need to do right, and with that, there come costs. It’s EXPENSIVE! That’s where you come in. With your help, we will be able to engage the best production team around, and we can ensure that this exciting music is preserved for years to come with the highest possible quality.
