You people are amazing. Thank you so much to all of our backers. On our campaign’s first day, we surpassed our $35k goal to build the archive of CreativeMornings talks.
This overwhelming response has made us realize that this Kickstarter is our opportunity to create a tool that can take CM to the next level. Features like dedicated sections for every city and a custom backend for all organizers are long overdue and would be *so* valuable.
Every additional dollar will go towards building this new, exciting hub for the CreativeMornings world. Let’s do this! Thank you so much for your support.

CreativeMornings is a global, breakfast lecture series run entirely by volunteers.
After attending several conferences over the past few years, Tina (aka swissmiss) felt like there had to be a more accessible event that was really just about bringing likeminded people together. So, she started CreativeMornings.
One Friday morning a month, people in the creative community gather to hear a speaker share their story. The best part is that the coffee, the breakfast, the lecture --- everything is free.
A sampling of past speakers include Jason Fried (Founder, 37signals), Paola Antonelli (Senior Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design, MoMA), Stewart Butterfield (Co-Founder, Flickr), Milton Glaser (I♥NY), David McCandless (Make Information Beautiful), Jessica Hische (letterer and illustrator), and Mike Monteiro (Founder of Mule Design).
We’re growing... fast.
Once called “TED for the rest of us” by The Atlantic, CreativeMornings was in four cities only a year ago. Now we are at 34 chapters and span six continents, thanks to our hard working hosts all around the world.
So here’s the problem. 34 chapters means 34 talks every month. We never planned for CreativeMornings to grow like this. We’ve been taping these talks all along, but as of now they are spread across the internet. It kills us that there are videos from hundreds of leading designers, artists, chefs, entrepreneurs, and no good place to see them all.
You should be able to find every CreativeMornings talk in the same place.
Here’s why we’re turning to Kickstarter. We have the potential to create a growing archive of stories, ideas and advice from remarkable creative minds across 34 cities, but we need to start building it now.
We need to:
- Process, tag and organize all of the CreativeMornings content, over a thousand hours of footage. (Videos need to be edited, talks need to be transcribed etc.)
- Design the Information Architecture and User Interface for the new site (Tina will lead the design with the help of an assistant designer)
- Build the custom backend for our organizers to manage and update (we’re working with a trusted development shop)
Everything at CreativeMornings is made possible by volunteers. Unbelievable volunteer hosts organize the chapters, venues are donated, and local sponsors cover breakfast. We’ve never charged a dollar for a CreativeMornings event and now we’re turning to you to help us take CM to the next level.
Our grand vision...
For the future, we would *love* to create the new hub for the CreativeMornings world. Our fundraising goal is based on a processing all of the content and building the initial digital archive, but any additional dollar would go towards features we’ve been thinking about for a very long time:
- Dedicated sections for guests to track their local chapter
- A custom backend for our organizers to announce events
- A process that makes it easier for new cities to join the CreativeMornings community.
- New features around discussion and global themes that better connect these local creative communities

We put together a campaign that offers not only physical rewards, but also experiences to connect with likeminded people, very much in the spirit of what CreativeMornings is all about. Every Kickstarter reward you see relates directly to the CreativeMornings world.
We’ve sourced notebooks, t-shirts, and prints from past CM speakers, organized amazing special events at some of our chapters, and even assembled a ridiculous roster of one-on-one/small group experiences with allstars from the design world.
