Agreed with Darrel in following the Z-Wave & WiFi protocol as listed. Also ensure the open API for both are ready to go for the maker / developer community. Failure to have validated documentation for the hardware will result in a failed launch and market adoption. Lastly, the team must ensure local first vs cloud first is the priority!!
All of these cloud hosted services are disaster waiting to a happen and a complete and utter fail. I don't want to have to rely on a Internet connection to manage and control my hardware which I own.
Everyday there is some *Cloud Only* company that has folded and leaving the consumer left in the cold.
For control, just implement a zwave and/or wifi profile. Make sure it works with existing home and building automation platforms, rather than trying to build your own. People are already deeply invested in their automation tools, I for one don't want to have to install yet another software for my new device.
