What makes this game worth backing?
We know you may not have as much time as you'd like to trawl through our full project blurb so here's the bullet points:
- Quick and easy army construction. You choose your forces and upgrades and you're good to go.
- Low setup requirements. You can play a game with just 2d10 if your memory is good enough.
- Fast paced, brutal, decisive gameplay. Non-interactive victories are completely against our philosophy.
- Based on a pre-existing world. Samsun Lobe has crafted a fantastic world for us to use in his Dying Star trilogy.
- Every faction has something to shout about. Bear Cavalry! Combat Monsters! Wibbly Critters! And More!
- We're lovely chaps. We understand how important community is. That's got to be worth something right?
Who we are...
We're a new start up traditional games company called Superfluid Industries who are looking to create varied and interesting board, card and miniatures games for people to enjoy. This is our first major project but we have many more in the pipeline for people to enjoy in the future.
Why do we need Kickstarter?
We have already invested a significant amount in commissioning the art for our characters and producing our guides and card sets. We have a talented sculptor standing by, and our production line is all in hand. It is for the latter stage we now need help in funding. The money will be used to produce the miniatures and for the printed materials and cool packaging that will accompany them.
The amount we're asking for may seem high but the cost of producing high quality figures, and ensuring we can keep producing those figures for the life of the game, is where the bulk of our funds are going.
What Exactly is a "Force"?

And Remember, more Starter Boxes, means More Factions to try ! here's a quick rundown of what comes in each factions starter force
The Enki are a faction of ocean tribesmen who lived in the oceans of Gebshu for countless years until the slow cooling of the planet forced them to ascend to the surface and face new challenges there.
They specialise in hit and run harassment tactics while assisting each other with additional and chain activations. While they may not be as well equipped or trained as other factions they always have each others backs.
The signature Solo Force for the Enki is their martial artist the Water Dancer, who combines high mobility and the ability to ignore defensive abilities when attacking. This unit is an excellent assassin.
The Enki Starter Force:
The Enki Starter Force contains the following:
2x Waverider on a 40mm Base.
1x Water Dancer on a 40mm Base.
The Imperials were the dominant power on Gebshu and Son-Gebshu for generations but with the slow decline of their influence and the glorification of martial ability above all else, they have found themselves beset from all sides by enemies they previously thought of as beneath their notice or even allies.
They have the best equipped and trained units in the game and can field a well rounded force of generalists who can both fight and shoot. While their average trooper can perform each role well enough, they lack the specialist skills which would lock them into a particular role.
The signature Solo Force for the Imperials is the Dominator. While they primarily serve as the bodyguards to the Emperor, any of these masters of combat is the equal of an entire unit of lesser foes.
The Imperial Starter Force:
The Imperial Starter Force contains:
2x Aspirant on a 40mm base.
1x Dominator on a 40mm base.
The Kekken are an aquatic race of creatures who inhabit the oceans of Gebshu in massive swarms and are considered by many to be savage monsters who kill and devour anything they encounter. While in truth they have a distinct society and have formed deep bonds with many of the more monstrous denizens of the oceans.
While the Kekken themselves are physically unassuming they can bring some of the most destructive units in the game to the table in the form of their beasts. While uncontrollable without their handlers, a clever player can use this to their advantage by making their beasts go berserk inside enemy lines rather than using activations to shepherd them about.
The signature Solo Force for the Kekken is the Murmur, a voracious predator which seemingly shares a common ancestry with it's handlers. If allowed to rampage unchecked it can easily take on any challenger.
The Kekken Starter Force:
The Kekken Starter Force contains:
3x Hunter on a 30mm base.
2x Handler on a 30mm base.
1x Murmur on a 50mm base.
The Magta are a race of enlightened giants who saw that the natural cycle of their world was coming to an end and so retreated behind the walls of their final city to await their fate. Their rigid caste based society evolved ensuring that each Magta knows their exact place in the world. Unfortunately their end would not be so peaceful as the world decided they were not quite done with the Magta yet.
Each of the Magta stands twice the hight of a normal man and the smallest based unit they have is 40mm and each of their castes excel at a particular aspect of combat. Ensuring that you have the correct unit in the correct place and activated in the correct order is vital for this faction as getting caught out of place is a death sentence.
The signature Solo Force for the Magta is the Destructor Caste Warden, a warrior who has survived countless encounters with warriors and monsters and serves as a shining example of the martial pride of the Magta race.
The Magta Starter Force:
The Magta Starter Force contains:
2x Destructor Caste on a 40mm base.
1x Destructor Caste Warden on a 40mm base.
The Mer are the masters of survival, they utilise anything they can to secure victory and live a nomadic lifestyle on the ice sheets and frozen tundra of Gebshu. They operate the closest to a traditional fantasy army with units of archers and swordsmen backed up by cavalry. However this cavalry just happens to be in the form of 2 ton sabre-toothed polar bears.
While the Shektar Riders are easily the most obvious of units for this faction they are very much one trick bear ponies and if they find themselves on the end of a charge things can go badly wrong for them. So be sure not to overlook their easy access to blocks of reliable troops, heavily armoured sentinels and some of the most powerful mystical abilities in the game.
The signature Solo Force for the Mer is, of course, the Shektar Dragoon. What's better than 2 tons of angry bear? - Armouring that bear and putting a highly skilled warrior on its back who can keep fighting even with the death of his mount.
The Merthurian Starter Force:
The Methurian Starter Force contains:
1x Shektar Rider on a 50mm base.
1x Shektar Dragoon (Mounted) on a 50mm base.
1x Shektar Dragoon (On Foot) on a 50mm base.
The Murai are the oppressed slave masses who laboured to produce food and clothing for their Imperial masters. Most crimes carry either the penalty of immediate death by execution or a slow death working as one of the Nameless. After being downtrodden for too long the Nameless have risen up and seek to take hold of what they built for their uncaring masters.
The Murai are poorly armed, poorly trained and lack most of the basic necessities of a coherent fighting force however what they lack in those areas they more than make up for in suicidal determination to live or die free. The extra men and ability to target your own troops means that unlike other factions you can afford wars of attrition in many cases, just be wary of killing too many of your own men to secure your victory.
The signature Solo Force for the Murai is the Psychopath, too subtle to immediately kill and too dangerous to bully. This melee assassin doesn't care about the size of the enemy he's fighting, only that it bleeds.
The Murai Starter Force:
The Murai Starter Force contains:
4x Scum on a 30mm base.
2x Psychopath on a 30mm base.
The Virtues are the traitorous masters of the moon of Son-Gebshu, divided into 4 major regions ruled over by a Virtue who defines the nature of their region. Earth defeats his foes by slow careful manoeuvring, Fire obliterates enemies with explosive aggression, Water turns his foes against themselves and Air's mobility means he can never be pinned down. When direct action doesn't or cannot work, the subtle knives of the secretive Virtue of Void can silence any foe.
Each of the Virtues units follow the ideology of their masters but that has led to units specialising to the detriment to their endurance and other skills. That being said, in the right place and at the right time Virtue units are unbeatable when fighting in their arena of choice.
The signature Solo Force for the Virtues is the Concubine Manipulator with her Void Guard bodyguards. While the Concubine isn't a threat physically her ability to manipulate activations and Pushes combined with her pair of Void Guards makes forcing an advantage is a real possibility.
The Virtue Starter Force:
The Virtue Starter Force contains:
3x Earth Reaver on a 30mm base.
2x Void Guard on a 30mm base.
1x Concubine on a 40mm base.
The Precursors are the last remnants of a society long since lost to the ice sheets of Gebshu. Occasionally an unfortunate miner will uncover one of their ancient holy sites and activate the automatons who stand guard. These machines operate as a cohesive, lethal, horde, dispatching those who have disturbed their sacred ground and scouring the surrounding area of life. While often dismissed as tall tales and frightened rumour they are a very real threat in the wilder areas of Gebshu.
The Precursors operate much like a zombie horde they slowly make their way towards the enemy, weathering attacks along the way, before methodically ripping them apart. However the ancient technology bound inside of them often manifests itself in the ability to teleport short distances or leap over intervening models so be aware of enemies coming at you from odd angles.
The initial Force for the Precursors is the Solomon Class Defender a powerhouse machine with the ability to literally hurl it's opponents about the battlefield or just pummel them into mush with it's fists.
The Precursor Starter Force:
The Precursor Starter Force contains:
3x Endless Class Troopers on a 30mm base.
1x Solomon Class Defender on a 50mm base
Through the magic of Kickstarter the great Emperor Senn can be brought back to life and put into battle under your command. Wielding his twin warhammers this Dominator on steroids is pretty much guaranteed to wreck face in game.
FAQ # 1
FAQ # 2
THE INSANE KICKSTARTER TOUR!
While Kickstarter recommends 30 days or less for your project we've gone for the full 60 days for 3 main reasons:
#1: We can get the game out to more people and allow more people to save up for exactly what they want.
#2: It gives us more time to get feedback from you fine people to tailor the fiddly bits of the game to our fledgling community.
#3: Most importantly it lets us visit as many Game Stores, Game Clubs and Events as we possibly can.
So over the next 60 days we're planning on doing exactly that, let us know either on Facebook or here where you want us to go in the UK and we'll make a plan to get there and strut our stuff. (Please note that by day 60 the stuff strutted may be slightly well used and insane.)
Our first locations are as follows:
Escape Games, Coventry SUCCESS! June 2nd!
Bedworth Wargaming Club, Bedworth SUCCESS! June 4th!
Dream Dealers Gaming Club, Coventry
Lamb and Flag Gaming Club, Nuneaton SUCCESS! June 3rd!
We'll have a map up as soon as our art monkey has it finished.
We'll be continually updating this page as our campaign goes on with concept sketches, pretty art, pledge visualisations and anything else we manage to come up with to keep you interested.
The Pledge Levels (with graphics)
Games Club and Retailer Rewards
We're not planning on cooling our heels if people enjoy what we have to offer, no sir, we've planned out a careful roadmap of stretch goal rewards starting with offering our complete rulebook, in glorious full colour, and then heading on to offer more units and single models for all of our factions.
Thanks for any support you can give us !
Risks and challenges
As with any project there is the always the risk of unexpected problems cropping up and creating difficulties we couldn't plan for. Thanks to previous success by members of our team in business we should be able to react any situation and adapt to those challenges.
In regards to the more mundane issues which could arise we have taken every effort to only work with artists, sculptors and casters which have a proven track record of delivering products on time and at a reasonable budget.
Rather than outsourcing our work to China, and all the associated risks that go with it, we will working with UK based companies for our CNC and casting work so we can be on hand to assist with any problems that may arise.
The greatest risk and challenge that we will face will be if this project is a runaway success, to counteract this we have set out from square one to forfil orders in waves rather than having to stagger our orders without informing our backers.
The game itself is complete, we have the concepts in place to be created into the 3D models which will be CNC milled and cast from, we have our packaging and shipping pipeline planned all we need now is the money to get this project started.
If we experience any major mishaps we will be happy to refund all our backers if required but we cannot see anything that could cause this, short of an act of God.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
