PUSH!!! WE NEED TO GET TO $30K!
We are so thrilled to make it past the first hurdle and reach our goal. We set the number very low since Kickstarter is all or nothing. We have until July 11th to get as close to $30k as we can.
WHAT will that do?
1. Get us the must-have songs that Christa wants to tell the story and invoke the right feelings in the audience
2. Pay the post-production team (who just won the GOLD! at the National Addys) what they rightfully deserve to focus wholly on this project and not take other work
3. FINISH this film and get it to the right people to help those newly diagnosed or faced with serious illness and save lives.
In May of 2015, Christa Wittmier’s oncologist gave her two years at best to survive with an aggressive chemotherapy plan in two rounds. That plan was greatly reduced shortly after she began treatment.
Not feeling comfortable doing so much chemotherapy, her friends and colleagues helped her research alternative methods. She was introduced to many integrative and naturopathic complementary therapies. Despite these options, she took the advice from a spiritual guide and moved forward with the chemo, creating an integrative approach to fighting the disease. With this plan, her oncologist was feeling the 10cmx10cm tumor in her left breast shrinking by almost exactly 1cm each week at examination. After a few infusions, her dose was reduced. She never completed the second round.
After 12 weeks of treatment, her scans showed no signs of disease.
This is where the story begins.
Noted as a social media influencer and quick to share all aspects of her life, Christa shared everything through her SnapChat stories. Posting a video of the entire journey on YouTube as an 8-minute condensed version, writing a free paper with details on exactly what she did: A Cancer Plan of Attack she was able to help tens of thousands of others who were newly diagnosed and scared.
A cancer diagnosis, especially at a late stage, can feel like a death sentence. Christa showed everyone it’s possible to get through it and thrive. While the story is quite inspiring, there are a lot of struggles Christa chose not to share.
Follow the story of a woman discovering healing from the inside out. With a few twists and turns along the way, this film will address areas of health and wellness that most choose to brush under the rug. Hear from doctors, friends and the community in the beautiful setting she calls home: Honolulu Hawai’i.
We are asking for your help to finish the post-production of this film. Donations are huge, but sharing this project is also a great help. I humbly ask my friends in the entertainment industry especially: please help us share this story. We need to meet and surpass this modest financial goal to get to the quality film that this story deserves.
Over a hundred hours of footage over two years needs to be edited and colored to create our rough cut. Music is very important to me and a couple of must-have tracks need to be purchased. I have a team standing by that has already started to organize everything and donated their time to create the trailer and this video. I have a big name producer also standing by for the rough cut to help me get this film shown to as many people as possible.
We have no doubt that this film will provide hope, and could even save lives. We are taking a more quirky approach, just like Christa, to keep it entertaining. There will be valuable lessons to inspire anyone facing a difficult illness or life struggle.
We aim to create a new energy in everyone who sees this story and show that it’s possible to overcome anything life throws at you if you can be open to it.
Now more than ever we all need to focus on helping others and seeing the good in this world.
Risks and challenges
We have shot just about everything that can clearly share Christa's message. With generous support from filmmaker Gerard Elmore we have spent all of this year continuing to shoot interviews. We need to get this into post and with this funding we can do that.
Christa as you may know is very particular about music to reflect a certain emotion or mood. She has already put together a collection of must-have tracks which we need to raise this money to buy if they haven't already been donated. We are considering an event to help with that as well but one step at a time :)
Of course, there is a risk that Christa may pass before this project is complete. We are confidant that we already have enough material to finish this film either way.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
