Attention Legionaries,

I hope you're all having a good start on the Christmas month.

Things are looking very promising here, so let's just dig straight into it :)

Production Status

I've heard from Whatz Games, who has approved all the files I've delivered so far. Now I only need to supply them with the final rulebook and Ancient Battle catalog.

The box insert will have 4 compartments. 1 for each faction with room for sleeved cards, both in width and accumulated height.

The battlefield, army sheets and rulebooks are put on top. The compartments also leave enough room to put the 10 soldier tokens and 6 discs on top of the cards.

The opposite side of the Army Sheet has the numbers in reverse, so you can choose which way you like to count.

The opposite side of the Battlefield has a sand/dirt look. Just flavor.

As you can see on the numbers, I've changed the box size a bit, because I wanted to make sure that there would be enough room for sleeved cards, which meant I had to rearrange things a bit.

The bottom of the box has room for a few Barbarian references and an Easter Egg ;)

The cards will be sorted and packed, so the first time you open the card packs, the top cards will be ready for the first battle mentioned in the "How to Play" rulebook.

The only challenge here is that some players will open the packages and shuffle through the cards before looking in the rulebook.... but you can't always win, right? ;)

Barbarian Uprising

The Stand-alone Expansion is also moving along nicely. Not all the artwork will be done for Barbarian Uprising once the first prototypes are printed, but there will be a good portion.

The Helvetii is 90% done (only General and Auxiliary are missing), and most of their data has been worked out for now. The illustrator is Lukas Maximilian Banas (http://www.lukasbanas.com/)

The Iceni is also 90% done. However their data is still in need of many tweaks as I'm implementing new card abilities. The illustrator is Mirco Paganessi (https://www.behance.net/Odiolaminestra)

The Arverni still has a bit to go in terms of illustrations, but their data is more or less ready to go. The illustrator is Jorge Plaza (https://joplazaes.carbonmade.com/)

The Cimbri also has a bit to go, but I'll have all the data ready for a full prototype print next week. The illustrator is Saida Granero Parra (https://saidagraneroillustration.weebly.com/)

I've no doubt that you guys will be able to help me tweak this stand-alone game into something even better :)

This Month

My to-do for this month (December) looks like this:

  • Approve the wooden components for the game.
  • Finalize the Ancient Battles catalog (which I didn't have time to finish last month).
  • Finalize the Rulebook based on feedback (this is the last item for the manufacturing).
  • Order the printing of Barbarian Uprising at the local printer.
  • Pack and ship the Barbarian Uprising prototypes.

  • Next update will be in the beginning/mid of January.

If you want to win a prototype of Burning Rome for a friend (or yourself) - you can go to Facebook and join the voting :)

Thank you for the great support on this journey.

Best regards Emil

Quote of the day - Curtis: "I received the Burning Rome prototype yesterday, and everything looks great. I can't wait to play the game."
