Empyrion is a deck building resource gathering card game in which 3-5 players compete as rival Scions in an effort to gain enough influence to declare themselves Grand Scion and win. Each turn players gather or commandeer resources, using them to shore up your faction strength by recruiting specialized citizens or building unique buildings on your faction board. Citizens provide strong one-time use actions that can quickly change the course of the game. Buildings grant permanent benefits once built and are the primary way to gain influence. How will you run your dystopia? Focus on building, attacking your opponents, or recruiting as you vie to gain enough influence points to claim the title of Grand Scion and ruler over all of Empyrion!
I am most proud of is the art of Empyrion. The artist, Tom Li, has done a fantastic job working with me to get my vision of the cards and his skill is better than I had hoped for. Below is a sample of the game's artwork. Tom Li will continue providing the artwork for Empyrion, including box, manual art, and any stretch goal art.
Early-Bird Discount: I have been showing our game around to anyone who will look at it and I love Empyrion's fans. People who back early and who have been following us awhile will have the opportunity to get a discount for your faith. Also, all backers will get their copy cheaper than the MSRP as a thanks for helping us launch Empyrion.
We Listen: I have been in development for nearly a year and have had hundreds of playtests with many players. I've received a ton of feedback on ideas, issues, and concerns as well as what people like about Empyrion. This has led to card changes and rule changes.
Kickstarter Exclusive Edition: The Kickstarter Edition of the game will have some exclusivities subsequent editions will not. Any stretch goals will be included in all versions of the Kickstarter Edition. Depending on stretch goals met, these can be substantial.
Transparency: I want you to know what you're getting. You can see some of the cards that we have and the beautiful artwork, but I am also releasing the current manual so that you can view how to play the game and if this sounds like something you and your gaming group would enjoy. View Empyrion's Manual to see what its about.
Because We Need You: I have been working on Empyrion for nearly a year and have put a ton of time, love, thought, concern, sleepless nights, worry, and money into Empyrion. Now I've reached a point where I believe we are about 90% complete. We need these funds to pay my artist for the final few cards, the art for the box, instruction manual, and faction card, as well as some graphics design work. In addition the funds for this Kickstarter will pay for the first manufacturing run and fees to Kickstarter/Amazon. I've spent so much time on this game and in this world that even if I don't recoup the money I've personally put into that game I still want to see it made and exist.
Now help us make the project better and more easily found with these social stretch goals.

Empyrion has been playtested by many players at various local gaming establishments. The game has received near universal thumbs-up. We are waiting for some more traditional reviews that will be posted here as they are received.
"I've seen a lot of games playtested in my store but this was the first one that I would buy for myself." -Will Pagani, Asgard Games
Daniel Zayas ~ 5/5 "I am a huge fan of Race for the Galaxy, and there's a lot of that game in the mechanics here, except here there is more player interaction! The dystopian theme is still gaining in popularity and the cards you can see in the campaign seem intriguing enough. I'd say this is the underdog I want to see succeed this week." MeepleMechanic.com
We plan to manufacture the game in the US with AdMagic. In addition we have spent the last several months researching and setting up a supply chain for Empyrion. We will be shipping this game worldwide primarily with Amazon fulfillment in the US, and EU (via Amazon.co.uk.). We have finalized our VAT and import paperwork and are simply waiting for a reply or the VAT number.
- United States and Canada: We will ship games from our manufacturer to an Amazon fulfillment center, from there they will be sent to backers in the US and Canada. Shipping for 1 box of Empyrion from the US is $5 and from Canada os $8
- European Union: For our European backers we plan on using Amazon fulfillment also except these order will go from the manufacturer to Amazon.co.uk in the United Kingdom. This will help cut down the cost of shipping as well as customs. Note: Norway and Switzerland are not in the EU, so backers in those countries could provide a EU shipping address if they want cheaper shipping (family, friends, Poste Restante in Sweden, or a DHL pack station in the EU). Shipping for 1 box of Empyrion to the EU is $12
- Any country not in the EU nor the US/Canada: It's quite expensive and time consuming to ship individual packages to South America, Mexico, non-EU Eastern Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, etc. Unfortunately I do not have a way around this problem currently and so while I'm still willing to send you the game the shipping cost will be higher. We will mark these games as "Kickstarter rewards" on the customs forms using the manufacturing cost as the commercial value of the game. Shipping for 1 box of Empyrion to the the rest of the world ranges from $30-$40.
Risks and challenges
Any project has some inherent risks no matter what anyone says but I have done everything I can to mitigate the risks as much as possible. Only about 10% of the artwork needs completion, I have been in touch with the Artist, Tom Li, and he is excited to get working on this project again, but there is some inherent riskiness when using freelancers if for some reason we lose contact.
I have spent the last 6 months researching, planning, and sourcing manufacturers and fulfillment both in the US and abroad. I plan on using the US based manufacturer AdMagic for the games production. Fulfillment will be through Amazon in the US, Canada, and EU. I believe these will greatly help reduce the time for backers to receive their rewards.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
