About

Polandball (also known as Countryball) is an internet meme, which people draw countries as balls, and make stereotype jokes with each other. I am a programer and a fan of Polandball, so i decided to create a mobile game for it, And it was called Polandball Not Safe For World.

Without advertisement, the download rate is quite good. So far it has ~350,000 downloads and it's still active. After a year of updating and maintaining, I have to ask myself a question, "Should i push this project to a higher level? Or  should I move on to other game idea?" It's a hard life decision. Fortunately, we have kickstarter nowadays. And here it is, the possibly next big PC game project for all Polandball fans, Polandball: Not Safe For World - Goodest Edition.

PS: This is NOT an educational game. (just in case you are a a parent finding something for your kids and have no idea what Polandball is)

The basic game mechanic is, you find problems on earth, and then hit them until there are no problem. Seems like familiar in real life, huh? I developed the first game based on this simple idea. It may be simple but then the game ended up about fighting emus for Australia, and defend US's walled clay. 
 
I get more and more idea and inspiration during the update development. And it gets to a point that a mobile platform may not be enough to handle. Hence, I want to remake it for a PC version.

The mobile version has 3 game modes. PC version will get 12-18 levels at least. Each level will have own story, goal, unique enemies/weapons. It will give you fixed weapons in the first try, but after finishing the level, you can replay it with custom weapons. Last time you may got a weak old school machine gun to fight the emu war. Next time you can use nukes for emu genocide.

The mobile version has 13 weapons/tools. In the PC version, i will add a new element which is Passive Item. In the latest update, i create one passive item for mobile version, so that new players can earn coins quickly. This convince me that passive item may have potential for my game. This game concept will gives players more freedom to play the game, because now you can have 4 tools to deal difference situation, or get 3 passion item to enhance one super weapon. 

Also, you will be also to choose your supporting country. You can choose more than just USA, and each supporting country will have their special power, which help you in the game. Plus the country you choose will also have skill stats that will change daily, We will make it like a stock market so you invest your time on the most potential country. (or just stick with the country you like, up to you)

And lots of fans asked for multiplayer feature. I will also try to do it. But this part is more difficult and costly. So it really depends on how much funding i can get.

 Outside of that, I want to use some artwork of PC version to update the mobile version. And if there is still time and money. I also want to reboot a cancelled project Polandball: Mix and Mess (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQHo9LTmiEw). These two are too far, so it won't be promised.

Ah Team Yes Ha Ha! Well! It's ah actually quite funny. 

I am an one-man team.

The current mobile game Polandball: Not Safe For World is completely developed by me, including the 2d/3d art, game design, coding, even music. The result is good. The review/feedback is positive. But i actually feel the art is not professional enough ,even the style is just imitating MS Paint. I probably will keep this workflow, if i just get a small amount of funding from here. But ideally, I want to get some artists to make better visual design. And if it's possible, i also want to get some freelance composer for better background music. 

Risks and challenges

The mobile version is a success, remaking it to PC shouldn't be too risky, concerning that i may reuse some of the resource. My savings can handle overbudget. The schedule should be fine, because deep down the scale is still just a small indie game.

The online multiplayer feature may be a technical challenge because i have less experience on this area. I have tried several networking libraries. i have experienced on back end programming. But i haven't fully finished an online multiplayer game before. In the worst case, i may just downgrade it to local multiplayer.

In the very very worst case, if my project fails, i will open-sourced my game, includes all codes and artwork (not music, to be fair to the backers who bought it).
