The PowerTAB is a small portable solar system.
Why is it special? It is the most efficient one of its kind.
It provides the possibility to use phones and tablets with 100% renewable energy. “The PowerTAB shows that it is really possible to recharge your mobile devices independently and with green energy. It is a highly important step towards an eco-friendly future”, reinforces Founder and CEO Stefan Ponsold.
Full power for smartphones, smartwatch and other wearables
A wolf in sheep’s clothing: The SunnyBAG PowerTAB turns out to be a hero in its field. The 5 watt SUNPOWER© solar panel charges through a highly efficient power management consisting of two cells that together provide 6000mAh storage volume. It’s interesting to know that the same cell called 18650 is used in the Californian Tesla Model S.
A high quality converter uses the technology to provide 2,4 Ampere output current on the USB. This is enough to recharge big-size tablets quickly. A LED status display shows when to recharge the batteries. As a bonus there are two 1 watt lights at the back of the PowerTAB that can be used for reading at night.
With the strong 5 watt panel it takes less than 100 minutes in direct sunlight to charge your smartphone on the go. Furthermore you can charge smart-watches and other wearables in even less than 30 minutes as well as thousands of USB-compatible devices.
Project timeline - delivery in September 2015
10 months development time - it’s worth it!
SunnyBAG has been cooperating with “Doctors Without Borders” and cumulated expertise in the development for the humanitarian usage. In November 2014 SunnyBAG received the AidEX Award in Brussels. At the beginning of 2015, Stefan Ponsold travelled to West Africa to test the first SunnyBAG PowerTAB prototype. The usability study resulted in developing an splash-proof surface (IPX5) and an additional protection frame which will become available by achieving the €12.500 stretch goal.
Futurezone - "SunnyBAG has great technology and quality in every single detail. It's fun to charge your device by using solar energy outdoors!"
Gizmodo - "SunnyBAG solar gadgets are not only cool, but also really practical."
SunnyBAG was launched by Stefan Ponsold in Graz, Austria with the idea of creating solar bags for Doctors Without Borders with sophisticated design which had never been launched before. Since 2010 we develop and produce solar-bags and backpacks to charge smartphones, tablets and wearables on the go - which are environmentally friendly. In this field we're the #1 in Europe with +600 points of sale and great cooperation projects. We have also funded the SunnyBAG Inc. based in Silicon Valley.

Risks and challenges
We did and will do our best to successfully deliver what we've promised to our SunnyBAG backers. The successful feasibility study in West Africa reinforces our expectations we believe in. Eventual weaknesses were eliminated by further developing the PowerTAB. However, component delays and unexpected shortage can happen. In that case, we will inform you and do our best to solve the problem.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
