If we reach our stretch goal of $200,000, we’ll produce both a hardcover book and an eBook that will work in tandem with the online experience. However, we really want to use as many of the tools that we have available to us to make this a more “immersive” or experiential experience. If we do reach our $200,000 stretch goal, everyone who has given over $250 will get a copy of both the HARDCOVER book and the eBook.

Not at the moment. However, if this is heavily requested in a country where English is not the principal language, then we can look into options of having it translated and subtitled.

I’ll be aiming to launch this in the Fall of 2018.

Yes! You can reference the online 10-Day and 30-Day Guided Cleanse courses that I've produced on www.sugardetox.me.
Additionally, I produce a gardening blog called HomesteadBrooklyn.com, which I launched on February 13, 2017; and produce a weekly plant and gardening video series called Plant One on Me on YouTube, which you can view here: https://www.youtube.com/user/summerrayneoakes. In addition to this, I have written, co-produced or executive produced a number of environmental short films, some of which have received awards, which you can find here: http://www.summerrayne.net/media/.
I’ve written two popular books, Style, Naturally (Chronicle, 2009) and SugarDetoxMe (Sterling Epicure, 2017), which were on sustainable fashion and beauty and on reducing sugar in your diet by focusing on eating more whole foods, respectively. I’ve also contributed writing to other books, including FutureFashion White Papers and the forthcoming book, Models Do Eat. And have written both peer-reviewed scientific papers—as well as contribute frequently to other outlets on sustainable living and plants, including MindBodyGreen and Free People’s blog. As far as events go—I have produced numerous ones—from a 600-person “meet your farmer” event to well-attended plant workshops and plant swaps. How to Make a Plant Love You: Houseplant Masterclass will just be a compilation of a decade worth of passion and experience.

I am an environmental scientist and entomologist by training, which means I have a deep appreciation and understanding for ecological systems. Through my time in the field, I worked on planting plans for mine reclamation, forest conservation and rehabilitation in tropical forests, local community gardening, and more. Additionally, I’ve tended and cared for houseplants nearly my entire life, and particularly so in the last eight years of living in Brooklyn, NY, where I live with over 670+ houseplants. Currently I work closely with one of the local plant shops to give plant workshops; offer local indoor-outdoor garden tours throughout the community, and have a blog called homesteadbrooklyn.com and a weekly plant video series called, “Plant One On Me”, where I answer plant questions that people submit. Not to mention—I’m just a big fan of connecting people with the plants they love. Education and inspiration are key to help people reconnect with the nature around them!

Yes! After the books are fulfilled to the Kickstarter backers, they will be made available online at Amazon.com, BarnesandNoble.com, and other places. If you don’t find it at the time of launch in your store, then you can request the store to purchase it!

First and foremost this course will be fun, engaging and entertaining. My goal is for you to come away with this course not only with the basic knowledge of plant care—but how you can "think" like a plant so you know what's going on with it! Not to mention, this is the first step to create the indoor jungle of your dreams. Though I haven't written the entire course, it will likely be 3-5 main sections, containing anywhere from 4-15 subsections under that, which will likely be somewhere between 1.5-2 months of content, depending on how it gets disseminated. The audio-visual component will be integral, as will illustration and animation, to help disseminate hard-to-understand content more easily.
