How to Make a Plant Love You is an online-audiovisual course + experience to help you demystify plant care, learn how to have a better relationship with your plants, and guide you to create the indoor jungle of your dreams.
Some of what this course will cover includes:
Plan on having beautiful imagery, illustrations and animated visuals to help you not only understand plant care—but help you think more like a plant!
We have a number of exciting Rewards for helping us get this project up and running, including Early Bird Discounts on the How to Make a Plant Love You Houseplant Masterclass; beautifully handcrafted items from Mozambique; social media shoutouts; and more.
We have a new $20 reward, which is a special "thank you" video from my irresistible foster hen, Kippetje, the Rhode Island Red.
The first fifteen people who pledge $50 will get a package of organic liquid indoor fertilizers from Espoma + our 100 Houseplants Care Guide.
A pledge of $149 will not only get you access to the course as well as acknowledgement on the site and across social, but also a 3.5-4" plant from Steve's Leaves (grower's choice & only available in the United States).
Pledges of $350, $750, $2500, and $5000 feature exquisitely handcrafted items such as bracelets, bowls and vases using sustainably-harvested noble hardwoods and polished with locally-sourced beeswax and wildcrafted oils from the Mezimbite Forest Centre in Mozambique, which is a sustainable development, agroforestry and tropical forest nursery operation that gives back to the forest and its people. Each item is unique and made by a skilled artisan. Samples of work are showcased below.
A Pledge of $475 gives you the "Urban Jungle Package" which includes 8 houseplants from Costa Farms, an Aspect LED 40W light from Soltech Solutions, access to the 100 Houseplants Care Guide, the Masterclass and more!
A Pledge of $500 will give you a producer credit on an episode of "Plant One On Me" on YouTube.
If we unlock our stretch goals, we'll be able to help take this online experience offline to:

- Create a hardcover book;
- Donate 500 copies of the book to under-served schools and libraries;
- Create and perform immersive experiences across cities, and
- Put How To Make a Plant Love You principles to work by helping refurbish and improve three community gardens in Brooklyn, NY.

Risks and challenges
Risks for the project are low. I have quite a lot of experience in this field, having produced multiple videos for the past 10 years, including producing and editing weekly online videos for my show Plant One On Me on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/user/summerrayneoakes), and an online workshop for my other venture: www.sugardetox.me.
I also have an incredible network of trustworthy, talented artists and designers that I've been working with for the past decade who are ready and willing to contribute to this initiative.
To further minimize risks, I started working on this project last year, researching, writing, and planning.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
