The Walking Dead meets the Care Bears
Tired, malnourished and running dangerously low on gasoline, Our Hero, The-Bear-With-No-Name takes refuge in Beartertown, a makeshift fortress ruled over by the machiavellian Father and his fearsome lackey, The Underbear. When nearby crazies The Ridgetown Raiders attack, he discovers that the Father may hold the key to his mission of bringing the Bear responsible for the Zombear apocalypse to justice.
At over 180 pages, complete with brightly coloured artwork care of resident artist Bakki, and a story-line that chucks in plenty of curve balls to give you the Zombie apocalypse as you've never seen it before.
As much a loving homage to franchises like Mad Max, The Terminator, George Romero's "...of the Dead" series and other 1980's genre films as it is to Saturday morning action cartoons like Thundercats, but with enough of a fresh spin to take it beyond it's "high concept" premise.
The Zombie Apocalypse has never looked so adorable.
Season one totals over 180 pages split across 6 chapters, we have fully completed the first five issues, and issue six has been inked and is awaiting colours. Within a month of the Kickstarter ending we will be going straight to print. We're running the Kickstarter because we need some help to get this out into the wider world.
Here's what the reviewers had to say:
"One of the best Indie Comics I've read in years" - Adrian Mursec - Superrobotmayhem.com
"Bearlands riffs off The Walking Dead but it is this pure uncut honey, rather than the zombies, that leads the story after the initial scene setting of issue one, and the series is all the better for it.... enough of a twist to raise it above the seeming hordes of other zombie titles around at the moment" - Jeremy Briggs (no relation!) - downthetubes.net
"Great, and gruesome... one of the most colourful and vibrant horror comics available right now! A great balance of light and dark, both in the artwork and in the writing (for a horror comic this is also one very funny book)!" - Phil Wheat - Nerdly.co.uk
"Biggs presents us with information but does not rest to let it sink in. Instead he throws us a curveball, and the reader is propelled along – not a single line is wasted." - Alex Harris - Geek News Network

The above teddy's are representative of the Teddy Bears up for grabs.
This is the second Kickstarter Jeremy has run, his first "Metal Made Flesh" - a cyberpunk illustrated novella - was successfully completed earlier this year and he is so grateful to have been given the chance to make it a reality. Many backers contacted us to say they were very "so pleased to have backed the project."
Bearlands: Zombie Bears is Jeremy's first comic release from "Subversive Comics". Issue 1 was created in May 2012 and the combination of Bakki's brightly coloured artwork and Jeremy's off-beat writing style meant it was soon garnering a lot of attention at conventions.
Jeremy is passionate about comics and is determined to give backers the quality you expect.
Risks and challenges
Every project has some form of potential risk. We've tried to mitigate this at every turn by having a range of potential suppliers and quotes to ensure we can produce on time and to the quality backers expect.
All the artwork for issues 1 to 5 are complete and ready to go to print. Issue 6 should be easily finished within the time frame, but I've allowed extra time in case there are any requirements for changes.
This is our second Kickstarter and we've learnt a lot from the first one in terms of potential pitfalls and ways to resolve problems that arise. We're confident that we can deliver on time and to a high quality.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
