Reddit AMA: Got a question you've been dying to get answered? Well you're in luck! Tomorrow (Saturday 12/8) at 2PM GMT (7PM EST) several members of our development team will be doing an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit! (/r/IAMA). We look forward to taking questions about horse-sized ducks... and anything related to War for the Overworld. We will post an announcement here, on Facebook, and on Twitter when it goes live!

Meet The Team: To let you get to know the team even better, we've launched our Meet the Team page! Over the next few weeks we will be expanding the page to include more of the team.

Holiday Gift Cards: For those of you who are looking to give the gift of evil this holiday season, we’re pleased to announce that we have the perfect solution for you! We will soon be making downloadable gift cards available to all of our backers that you can print out or email to your friends and family!

Design Update #1: The Archive

We had heard rumors of a dark figure sneaking around the dungeon so we dug around to see what we could find out. It turned out that there was a new room in the playable showcase that we didn't remember building. Eager to investigate we sent a few Blood Imps in. They haven't returned  (though they probably just snuck over to the disco room, the lazy bums.....) and we were forced to probe deeper. It turns out a Cultist had entered our dungeon and had set up his books, candles, and scrolls in the Archive.

You may be saying to yourselves “Archive? That’s like a place for books...and reading? Bah, I don’t read. This is a boring room...” To which we’d reply that there is a spot in the torture room waiting for you if you don’t go find a book. The Cultist (we’ve been calling him Bob, though his real name is George, and you can see from his face that he’s not pleased) will take great pride in “reeducating” you into the wonders of the room.

But I digress. The Archive will be the location for researching new Veins of Evil unlocks. As your researchers focus their efforts over time, their discoveries will aid you in choosing just how you want to play the game. At the same time, the Archives is also a way for researcher types to train and some units are even entertained by simply sitting down and reading a book (note the last paragraph, for the offer of the torture room still applies).

In our next design update, we go into more details on how the Archive hooks into Veins of Evil, and how Veins of Evil will give you the ability to fine tune exactly how you want the game to be played.

Build-A-Room Part 1

Click here to go directly to the poll!

It turns out while this portion of the update was being typed, we found the missing Blood Imps from earlier! Even better, they have managed to get the Archive a bit more.....inviting.....for our dungeon’s guests in the showcase. While we’re on the subject of the Archive — we’re pleased to announce our first design vote! In this poll we are asking all of you to choose what floor design you would like to be the main (initial) skin for the Archive in the game. Take a good long look at the choices in the showcase, or below...

Head on over to our forums once you're ready to vote. The poll will close three days from now (12/10) and once we announce the winner we will move on and open the vote for the next component of the Archive. We’re considering this a “preview” of the voting process that all backers will have access to on the post-Kickstarer website after our campaign.

That's all for today!

Until next time Underlord,

-WFTO Team

C is definitely too noisy :\
      A for me.
      B would be fine too.

      Anything but C

    2. BruceP - Chameleon Prime

      Personally, I think C is too noisy/busy, so I would vote for A. :)

@ Tom Neale : The art style goal is basically a median between Dark Souls and Torchlight. We want something that is a mix of realistic and cartoon. One approach has been what we have in the showcase which, depending upon how well received it is during the campaign, we will either tweak and move forward during development, or go back to the drawing board.

@ Georgy : As AvatarIII has said, we have add-ons for the campaign. A table breaking them down will be available very soon. Any of the physical and digital add-ons will be available. And Dungeoneer's Guide to the Underlord will be a making of book, as well as some other goodies. :)

@ Mark McLaughlin : All 3 choices are currently viewable in the playable showcase. We have added additional lighting to the room to see them in action.

I want to say C... B would be good for a training room... with blood splats of course. As for A... i would like to see a rendering of A and C to make a strong and solid choice ... Or you could just use the Rug from the movie The Big Lebowski; Because it would really tie the room together

Also, I believe the Dungeoneers Guide to the Underworld is a making of book, although I'm not certain

Hi Georgy, update #2 states that you can add to your pledge for extra digital copies in the following way:
Add £10 for each additional digital copy of the game
Add £15 for each additional digital copy of the game with the Bedrock Beta
Add £20 for each additional digital Kickstarter edition (includes Bedrock Beta)

@ Subterranean Games: Well, for example, nice things: digital concept art book, or “Making of...” book. Also, low-level reward, which contains 2 digital copies of the game. And more various reward for your forum.

I like A, it has a classic feeling.

    9. Tom Neale on

I like c but the colours might be a bit hard on the eye after a while, and doesn't seem to match the concept art for the walls. But I'm not thrilled with a either at the mo. depends on the overall art style I guess - how cartoony will the game be?

    10. Subterranean Games Creator on

Hey folks, just to clarify on the error in the post: The AMA will be taking place at 7PM GMT (2PM EST - worldwide times here:…)

@ Георгий: Are there any specific things you think are missing from the digital tiers? We're definitely open to adding more!

    11. Selroy on

Still, need few new digital-only tiers. For example, I know several persons, who waiting more variety tiers. Так-то.

    12. NaGeL Bailey on

Oh so thats the new room and strange tiles.....
