Your choice between the finished piece, made by us in our workshop in Québec, Canada.
A do-it-yourself kit, made up of all the unfinished, unassembled parts. This leaves the sanding, oiling, polishing and assembling to be done by you at home.
We set ourselves the challenge of making quality for less. We examined all the stages involved in getting a piece out of our workshops.
Realistically, if we don’t want to sacrifice on the quality the only place that we can cut our costs is in the finishing. These are simple, yet labour intensive jobs. Perfect for you to do at home and help us to get the finished price of our furniture as low as possible.
All the pieces come pre-drilled so with a few simple hand tools you can finish the furniture the way that you want to. You will need to sand, oil, polish and assemble.
We will show you how with online videos and tutorials.
Inspired by the effortless movement of a birds wings, The Little Table combines ergonomic design and the geometry of a octagon to transform different areas around the home.
This small, foldable, wooden and metal table is like us – adaptable to many situations.
Work with us to make something unique and special just for you with the ability to engrave an image or inscription of your choice. You can put your name, a phrase, your logo - anything you want. After the end of the campaign you will receive an email explaining all the guidelines for designing your table.
You can choose the wood and the metal that matches your taste and style. Keep in mind some choices are more expensive then others. If only everything could be made of brass and walnut!
The metal hardware has been designed to be completely repairable with all the elements easily coming apart to ensure that it will last a lifetime.
The Little Table folds flat for easy storage and comes with a printed cotton and jute storage bag that doubles as a backpack.
We are lucky to live near some of the most beautiful hardwood forests in the world. We recently invested in a CNC (Computer numerical control) router. It arrives in a couple of months so we will be able to make the majority of our parts and products ourselves in our workshop in Beaupré, Québec, Canada. The rest will be sent to local manufacturers within a 15km radius of our workshop, keeping it local and helping our community.
So far this project has been completely funded by us. Before we put The Little Table on the market we need to do one more round of prototyping to finalise all the details. We need enough orders so that we can send the hardware to our manufacturing partner. With your help we will be able to do this in December, allowing us to start producing as soon as our CNC arrives.
Risks and challenges
This is not a project that we have undertaken lightly. It started as an idea written on a piece of paper taped to our wall in our apartment in Montreal just after the birth of our son. Dreamed up as a way that we could live a regional area yet still use our combined acquired skills.
After several years in development, including relocating and setting up a new life we have recently taken a large personal risk based on a belief in local manufacturing. We live on the edge of beautiful hardwood forests that need to be respected by being used in the making of beautiful products that last a lifetime.
As with any start of project we anticipate their will be unforeseen delays which is why we are hoping for a small first run of production that will help us set up our manufacturing processes and techniques. If their is any delay in the delivery of the machine then this will surely be reflected in the forecasted shipping dates.
All of our suppliers and manufacturing partners are confirmed and are waiting to complete our last round of prototyping with us. This last round of production allows us to make sure that by the time we start producing we use our time and resources wisely.
