Introducing the Photoshop Picture Frame by Studio Cult Co.
This new picture frame is part of our "digitalism" collection of unexpected transformations, most of them bringing the digital world into the physical world. Most of our designs take skeuomorphs in found software and then interprets them into three dimensional versions.
The frame is fairly compact, measuring 5” by 8”. It hold a 4" x 5" photo.
It is the perfect gift for the graphic designer in your life!
This is just a fancy way of saying that we take things that look like they can be clicked or moved such as buttons and sliders, and then I make a version of it that you can actually touch.
This idea came to to the designer when she was very young. She was frustrated that she couldn't actually touch or press any of the buttons despite the way they looked. It was almost like they were teasing her. "They just seemed like they want to be three dimensional" she says. "Perhaps I was a strange child or perhaps I was born to be a designer, I thought about this often. I wanted to make a real life version of all of my favorite programs."
Many years later she followed through with this curiosity and made several pieces exploring the idea. Her art breaks the third wall and lets us have that sublime, tangible experience with software.
So what's going on:
The first prototype has been completed and the design is ready for mass production. We are asking you today to help us raise $5000 so we can put in the first bulk order to bring this frame to the market at a reasonable price.
Once fully funded, the orders are expected by ship April of 2019 or earlier. It is available for worldwide shipping. We ship all United States orders via USPS and International orders via DHL International Express.
