Frequently Asked Questions
The "Early Adopter" Levels offers FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING!
The Regular Levels offer a very reasonable ONE LOW PRICE for WORLDWIDE SHIPPING! [That price is $15, BTW... which for a game of this size and WEIGHT is very very cheap!]
How can we do this? WHY would we do this? Simple:
We want this game in the hands of gamers, WORLDWIDE! You will love this game to play... and to see on your table. It is simply going to be beautiful!Last updated:
We don't believe in making something totally exclusive. We want things to be able to be in the hands of all gamers...at some point!
HOWEVER, we have "Kickstarter PROMOS" in the game. These are:
1. The Kickstarter Promo Scenarios and Illustrations Book: Retail = $25.
2. The Kickstarter Promo Cards: +14 Equipment and Rescued Thrall Cards: Retail = $10
These 2 Kickstarter Promo items will NOT be in the Retail box, but these Promos MAY be available at a later date for purchase at the prices listed above.
The current plan is to have a VERY LIMITED quantity of the PROMO BOOK after this game is in Retail, and to have the Promo cards for sale on BGG and the Stronghold Games webstore.Last updated:
No, none at all! The games are not linked in any way, except that "Space Cadets: Away Missions" is a thematic prequel to the previous games. "Away Missions" is set about 200 or so years before either Space Cadets or Space Cadets: Dice Duel... thematically. There are no other links between the games.
As a side note, "Away Missions" is artistically set in a completely different era: Golden Age Sci-Fi, circa the look and feel of 50s era science fiction. We believe it is just beautiful, and places it in a genre very different from other sci-fi games... including the other Space Cadets games!Last updated:
We are shipping the game from Germany! This is one reason we can offer the FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING to Early Bird Adopters!Last updated:
For $60, you are getting the PLASTIC MINIS ONLY! This level is basically for plastic miniature collectors. The game is NOT INCLUDED in this level! You will get all of the plastic miniatures, including anything from Stretch Goals reached.
If you want the GAME itself, then....
For $99, you get EVERYTHING! That is... You get the GAME, all the "Kickstarter Promos" and all of the Stretch Goals achieved.
So... to get THE GAME, back it at $99 !
AND, if you want to get some or all of the miniatures painted, back it at the higher levels! For $249, you get a SECOND SET of all the plastic miniatures FULLY PAINTED!! Be a "Captain in the Rocket Patrol", and get all your miniatures painted!!Last updated:
On BGG, of course! Here you go with a direct link:
There are DRAFT rules, but 98% done. Changes will be TWEAKS only, plus...
Those last pages may have YOUR NAME in there! See the CADET and ADMIRAL levels!Last updated:
This is answered in the main body of the campaign, but to reiterate:
In the same way that even larger companies used Kickstarter to explore a new market, such as Days of Wonder kickstarting “Smallworld 2 Digital” and Steve Jackson Games kickstarting the $100 “Ogre Designer’s Edition”, Stronghold Games is exploring this new market. We hope that this market does exist for us, and we hope you will be part of making it happen!Last updated:
While we do not have examples of the actual "Space Cadets: Away Missions" miniatures painted (since we only have the prototype sculpts of our figures that you see in the photos), we have examples from another game that were painted at the same factory.
Here are examples from the game "Die Zwerge" ("The Dwarves"), painted at the factory where your "Space Cadets: Away Missions" miniatures will be manufactured AND PAINTED (if you select the appropriate Reward Level, that is!):
What will be the difference from the Kickstarter edition of the game and the retail edition of the game?
In short, no difference.
HOWEVER, as a Kickstarter Backer at the GAME level ($99 or more), you will get these Kickstarter promo items:
1. The Kickstarter Promo Scenario and Illustrations Book: retail value = $25
2. +14 Kickstarter Promo Cards (Equipment and Rescued Thralls): retail value = $10
See the details in the Kickstarter story.Last updated:
Will there be 'Add-Ons' (either before or AFTER the Kickstarter closes) for those who've backed the game?
Unfortunately, no. Add-Ons are just really difficult to manage.
We would prefer that you pledge for the Reward Level you would like before the close of the Kickstarter.
If there is some combination of items you want, we might be able to create a new Reward Level, as we did with ENSIGN FIRST CLASS (two copies of the game).Last updated:
