Cee Raymond's Crime & Space #1 (Canceled)
ROY RIOT roams the galaxy with his robot partner CRAIG in The Rocket Queen, staying ahead of the law. Ready for that one big score.
"What I've done is taken two genres I'm fond of, the 50s sci-fi serial and the Roger Corman b-movie and combined them with all the crime noir burned on my brain. Then I let it watch 70‘s Saturday morning cartoons till it learned how to laugh. I want each story, each issue to be is an episode, a self contained story, usually a caper already gone wrong. What I hope for is a bang bang shoot em up read that people will dig. Because in space, ain't nothing going on but the rent..." – Cee Raymond
CRIME & SPACE tells the story of ROY RIOT, a criminal operating in the depths of dirty space, that's as quick with his ray gun as he is with his mouth. Strapped only with his wit, a pair of Laser 45s and his robot partner CRAIG, he roams the galaxy in his souped-up saucer The Rocket Queen, staying two warps ahead of the law with his good eye always on that one big score.
ROY is the anti-Buck Rogers, the punk-rock Han Solo, a hoodlum out of time from the Earth year 1967, Roy was found in stasis aboard an alien vessel with no clue of how he got there. (A mystery that will be explored through the series.) With no money, no means of support and a life that has been dead for centuries, he soon realized he could be a vagrant adrift the cosmos or return to his criminal ways and seek out that final heist, where he can retire, escape to the depths of space and open his own bar complete with a bevy of beautiful alien women. But Roy doesn't have the best of luck and every job he pulls is always more trouble than it‘s worth.
CRAIG, Roy's right hand robot and only friend, stands for Complimentary Robot And Instructional Guide, which comes standard with the saucer ship Roy stole (his first criminal act upon returning to his old ways) Craig is programmed to mimic the personality of his owner upon activation so he makes the perfect partner in crime. But despite his programming, he still gets frustrated with Roy's brash, illogical shoot first methods and leads to a lot of fights and arguments. Their friendship is the core of a lot of the story.
In issue 1 of Crime & Space Roy is after an elusive earth artifact, the infamous Nude portrait of Bea Arthur and that puts he and Craig right in the thick of it with motorized devil dogs, daring deep space escapes and in the cross hairs of a mutant gun slinging french poodle named Bob...
Risks and challenges
With every project there is the fear of failure but if you don't put your work out there no one will ever pick it up. So this is us putting the Crime & Space out there for you to pick up. Anytime you have more than one person working on a project there there can be difficulties. If one person gets ill it can create a delay on each subsequent stage. Keeping a project moving is a huge feat and a comic is no different.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
