Straton Watch Co. ® was established in 2015 by watch and car enthusiast Kyle. Combining his passions, he created a brand which has successfully launched and delivered three Kickstarter campaigns to date. Kyle is proud to present his latest 70's inspired creation the "Speciale".
By supporting this Kickstarter you will be able to customize your OWN watch from the options below. These options will be decided by you after the Kickstarter has ended by means of a questionnaire/survey you will be sent, for now you just need to select how many watches and the movement selection by choosing the correct reward. The finishing options which you will be able to choose from are as follows:
- Two case finishes Polished or matte, these finishes are offered with both the meca-quartz and Automatic versions, so you can have any one of the 5 color dials, with any movement and with any case finish
- Two movement options, Valjoux 7750 (day/date) Automatic movement or VK67 (no date) meca-quartz (explanation of both movements in more detail further down)
- A choice of one of five available striped straps which is included and is free of charge
- An optional metal bracelet. The leather straps pictured with each watch will come as standard for example, if you choose Version A you will receive the blue leather strap with Version C the green strap.
As explained above you have the option to include the metal bracelet which will come in 4 diffferent finishes, Your choice of case finish will decide what the finish of the strap will be, the options are shown below. As with our previous three launches we offer free striped straps. This time we have decided to go with a 2 piece canvas strap instead of a nato strap. With each watch pre-order you will decide on one of the following 5 striped designs you would like to include with your watch:
For a video review of the Straton Speciale checkout what Worn&Wound had to say about it:
The Speciale is available with two movement options, either the Valjoux 7750 Day/Date Automatic movement or the Seiko/TMI VK67 meca-quartz. Why have we chosen two movements instead of one? Both movements we chose are top quality movements, some customers prefer Automatic movement and some prefer a Quartz movement and price is also a decision factor.
The Swiss Made Valjoux 7750 Automatic is a well-known mechanical chronograph movement produced by Valjoux (part of ETA). The 7750 is a self-winding chronograph movement with 25 jewels, ball-bearing rotor, unidirectional winding, 1/8-seconds counter, 30-minutes counter, 12-hours counter, 28.800 A/h, power reserve ca. 44 hours. Its designed to be a reliable workhorse which is why many watch brands out there use this particular movement.
The second movement option the VK67 meca-quartz, now what exactly is 'Meca-Quartz? - A movement developed by Seiko is a hybrid movement which combines the accuracy of a quartz watch (+/- 20 seconds average per month) with a Mechanical Chronograph (5 beat per second sweep chronograph hand and fly-back chronograph reset). What this means is the Chronograph second hand is mechanical and moves with a sweeping function and not like a Quartz watch which has the "ticking" function. For more information and detailed specifications of the Seiko VK series please visit the Time Module website.

The Speciale watch case will receive a DLC (Diamond like Carbon) clear coat treatement making the watch case scratch resistant. The coating is 20 x more scratch resistant than standard 316L steel. The case will not be 100% scratch proof but this coating will stop those light scratches caused by daily wear. Here is an example of its durability:
Every person who has owned an ordinary watch box knows that they are somewhat useless and are often left locked away and forgotten about. We have created a watch case which was purposefully made to store not only a watch but also the extra straps that come with each watch, furthermore we wanted the packaging to be durable and something which could be used when travelling knowing that your watch is safely stored when not on your wrist.
If we reach the projected funding goals below it will unlock upgrades:
The prototypes of the Speciale have already been produced and approved and we are ready to go to production. We will begin production once the Kickstarter has ended and surveys have been completed. We have been conservative with our timeline as we would rather over estimate than under estimate:
Straton Watch Co. was started in 2015 by Kyle, a 32 year old classic car and watch enthusiast. After having launched three very successful Kickstarter campaigns to fund the Vintage Driver Chrono, Curve Chrono and Syncro watches and delivering over 4000 watches to customers around the world in the last 2 years alone, feedback and support from new and existing customers has been very positive with not only receiving a quality product but also TOP customer service.
Risks and challenges
We realize creating and delivering a product is a complicated process and sometimes with unexpected delays, however this is why we have taken the up most care and diligent preparation. We have the experience gained from our previous 3 campaigns on Kickstarter of which all were successfully delivered.
We have a well-established relationship with reliable manufacturing partners, tried and tested prototypes and are confident in the quality.
As we have done in our previous campaigns, we're going to keep our backers/buyers informed during the production process and this will be done with regular updates and sharing pictures as often as possible, for example machining and tooling of cases, dial preparation, final assembly, movements and packaging.
As we believe in the best customer service and experience as possible we guarantee no question will go unanswered for more than 24 hours. If along the way we find that there is a setback in production, or there is a delay somewhere during process in the timeline, we will be transparent and keep all of our backers informed.
The future looks bright for Straton Watch Co. and believe not only in a quality product but also TOPNOTCH service.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
