About

With the recent demise of local journalism in the Town of Stratford, Connecticut, the Stratford Sports Scene is a sports blog devoted to covering the student-athletes of this town, whether they play in college, in high school or in the youth sports ranks.

The recent closure of the Stratford Star newspaper, coupled with the constant cutbacks at other journalistic entities, has left a huge void in the sports coverage of these student-athletes.

The Stratford Sports Scene will give these students a voice to have their stories told through words, photos, and videos on our website and through multiple social media accounts.

Owned and operated by a life-long local sports journalist who lives in the town, the Stratford Sports Scene sports blog will give the town a professional online publication to promote and cover the games, players, coaches and more on an every day basis.

We are determined to never put up a pay wall in order to give our readers and followers the coverage they deserve.

Admittedly, to get things up to full speed, we do need your help to make a longer-term commitment to this project and build momentum toward the future, allowing for countless of other athletes down the road can have their stories told, as well.

Thank you for your time and support.

Risks and challenges

As of right now, the Stratford Sports Scene is a one-man show, so things are left uncovered and unreported.

As we get up and running, financial support will help us to be able to cover even more events and tell even more stories by hiring freelance writers, as well.

Our founder has been involved in local journalism in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and has a stable of writers he can reach out to in order to help the site grow that much more in the future.
