Gather a few friends ’round the table and see how quickly all those years of bonding and camaraderie can be ripped to shreds with a well placed hex.
Strategically protect your own good fortunes while devastating those of your former friends.
Each of the five fortunes governs a domain of life, and each must be cursed to eliminate a player. But how to do that?
Each player in Cursed! starts off the game on a level playing field. Your fortunes don’t look particularly bright (no $1M lotto tickets for you!), but there aren’t any falling pianos in your near future, either. Every card in the game has the potential to drastically alter those fortunes for good or ill.
On each turn, three plays must be made.
- Cast an Outgoing spell on one of your opponents' fortunes (preferably a Curse)
- Cast a Reflexive spell on one of your own fortunes(there are blessings in the deck, but they are rare, so hoard them)
- Sacrifice a card on the altar of Tyche to temporarily change the rules of the game
But here's the twist: These three plays can be made in an order of your choosing, heightening the strategic implications of each maneuver. Change the rules with a sacrifice to cast both of your spells on an enemy, or save your sacrifice until the end to keep your foes guessing.

The Five Fortunes that govern your destiny. Curse those of your foes, Bless your own to fortify them. Each card you draw is a Curse, a Blessing, or a cleansing Neutral card for one of the Five Fortunes. If you hold only Curses, you must direct one toward your own Fortunes. If you hold only Blessings, you must play it on an opponent to their benefit.
But each card also contains a Sacrifice, which changes the rules of the game. Is it worth saving a Blessing to shield yourself, when the Sacrifice effect on that card can help you now?
We have selected The Game Crafter for the manufacturing of our game. We have chosen to work with them because of their reputation for quality and service.
The game contains 105 cards and a direction booklet. Card design is still a work in progress, but our prototypes used the design below.
Play testing has indicated some design changes, and updates will be posted here as those designs are finalized.
We wanted to include the orientation of an in-play card as an indicator of its current use, and that will likely remain in the final design. The icons and color-coding of the cards are also likely to remain in the final design.
Thanks for taking the time to read our mercifully short Kickstarter project page. We truly appreciate any support you can offer, and sincerely hope you'll back the project, and share your enthusiasm for it with your friends and social networks.
Risks and challenges
Cursed! is already in Beta testing, so there are few risks associated with the project. We have selected a reputable vendor for production and distribution of the finished project, and expect to be able to deliver by our target date.
Potential pitfalls include printing delays, shipping delays, or product damage resulting from printing or shipping errors. Also, because all of the printing and distribution services are being handled by a single vendor, a massive failure on their part would result in our needing to re-source those services. That said, we chose to do business with The Game Crafter because of their outstanding track record, and have every expectation that they will succeed.
This campaign, if successful, will generate enough simultaneous sales to make a print run cost-effective. An unexpected level of success might slow down the printing process, resulting in some rewards being fulfilled after the expected target date.
We intend to be forthright and communicative with our backers regarding any problems which might arise in the future, keeping you all in the loop if situations arise and as we attempt to address them.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
