Music is a beautiful thing. It opens doors and affords us the opportunity to know one another in a unique kind of way.
Last year I was stopped on the side of a road by a girl in Germany who spoke to me with tears welling in her eyes about the deepest peace she'd ever experienced at my show the night before. The year before that I received an email from a new friend in California describing how they played my album 'Posters' every day while they worked their way out of a difficult relationship with alcoholism. I was approached by a woman after another show who explained to me that listening to my album and praying it through day after day helped her out of depression and a suicidal season of her life.
Music transcends in a world where everybody's looking for peace and everyone is longing for love.
Music in itself is a connection worth pursuing as an artist and I've always loved doing that. But it is as much about that boundary-less human connection with cultures and peoples everywhere as it is about offering you the best of me musically.
These last few years I've poured all the resource I can into pursuing these human connections around the world. Now, after writing what I believe is my best work yet I need your help to record this album and share these new poems and new stories.
I say my best work yet because I've grown. Who I understand myself to be and who I understand God to be has grown. I feel a new freedom in my writing and a new desire to let out what's been dwelling in the deep places. I'm excited about sharing that with you and I feel like I've written songs that will do exactly that.
This target alongside my own funds will help me to record this album with a talented group of people locally. I've pulled together a team I think will make a great album and I'm excited about what we'll produce.
By partnering with me in this Kickstarter you are personally adding your touch to this work and helping me to record another album. I can't do it without you and I'm thankful that you're considering coming along with me on this journey.
Here's to another exciting chapter!
Risks and challenges
There are always risks associated with any creative endeavor. Albums live and breathe and have their own life and they can sometimes take a few months longer than expected. Every now and then a technical trial adds the need for more work and as with any project these unforeseeable glitches can take time and resource to work through. The amount I'm aiming for in this project includes some breathing space in the anticipation of any of those unforseen quirks.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
