Short summary 
"How I became a murderer" is a browser-based text adventure. You take on the role of Carl Bishop, a man in his mid-thirties who has always battled his inner demon. Internally torn, he is desperately looking for his place in life. One day he sets it free and saves a woman from being raped. Thus he becomes the hero and experiences recognition for the first time in his life. Although he finally feels free and comes into his own, his new life takes its toll. His inner demon wants to quench its hunger.

Decisions have consequences
Every decision you make has an impact on your personality and determines your possible actions. You decide whether you want to act unscrupulously or conscientiously! How you act not only affects your destiny, but also that of other people. Beloved and unpopular. Decide which way to go.

Behave discreetly and wipe away tracks
In the course of the story you will be forced to do bad things. When this happens, you have to act with skill and mislead not only the police but also your environment. With each wrong decision, you attract more suspicion and are more likely to be unmasked and spend the rest of your life in jail. The further the game progresses, the harder it’ll be to keep your dark secret to yourself.

Friend or enemy
You’ll encounter some dodgy people and even unscrupulous murderers. Will you try to bring them to justice or will you take advantage of the opportunity and ally yourself with them?

In-depth
A compelling and non-linear storyline awaits you. The story will span multiple parts if the financing target can be achieved. If this is unsuccessful, I will turn the story into a book. There is sufficient material for this.

Playable in German or English.

Characters:
Samuel Bishop (Carl’s brothers)
A highly-respected police detective who will stop at nothing for his career while, in his private life, he acts the decent, upright family man. He tries to misuse his brother for his ends.

Peter Bishop (Carl's and Samuel's father) He has never made a secret of the fact that that Samuel his favourite son and Carl is only the black sheep of the family.

Lisa Smith (work colleague)
She combines everything that Carl dreams of in a woman. So far, he hasn’t had the self-confidence to approach her, but this is changing. Can he win her over and if yes, can he hide his true nature from her?

Adam LaVine
Carl’s only friend. A loyal chump who hasn't given up the dream of an exciting life and isn't satisfied with his present boring life.

Development costs
Currently, most of the costs are incurred for translation (server costs are negligible). As English is not my mother tongue, the texts will be professionally translated. The translation cost just for the short playable demo is about €300. The more money is collected, the more extensive the game will be.

Risks and challenges

The risks associated with this project are very manageable. Except for the translation costs, there is virtually no expenditure. The programming has no graphics and is therefore quite simple.
The biggest hurdles I see lie in balancing the gameplay. The balance between text-heavy story parts and action sequences must simply be consistent.
