A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Story Bikes was born from our fascination of electric bikes and love for philanthropy. Our mission is to enhance the way we commute while shaping the future of those who need it most.

With the Torque Sensing Crankset you are free to enjoy the pleasures of biking. Equipped with up to six different levels of pedal assist, just apply pressure and the motor will instantly power the bike to your preferred level.
Crank the level up when you get tired. Let the bike do more of the work by changing the Pedal assist levels. Got to get to work and don’t want to show up in a sweat? Turn the pedal assist up. Trying to get in some cardio? Turn the pedal assist off.

To create a premium bike, you need premium parts. Each element of a Story Bike has been thoughtfully selected and sourced to create a sleek look and optimal ride.
The onboard computer keeps you in the know. Keep track of your speed, distance travelled, pedal assist level. Also, monitor your battery level so you never have to second guess the last time you charged your Story Bike.
Fast, responsive and reliable shifting… what else do you need to know? Decrease the chances of dropping that chain. These gears incorporate specifically positioned shift ramps and tooth profiles for improved chain control during shifting.
Stop on a dime. Hydraulic disc brakes deliver maximum stopping power and the best speed modulation in all weather conditions. Stop safely even when there is snow, ice, or rain on the road.
A trusted favorite amongst cyclists, ThickSlick tires provide optimal protection and ensure a smoother ride. The nearly indestructible tires are designed with twice the rubber strength of a conventional bike tire, providing double the safety and double the lifespan.
Ride hard and fast. The aluminum frame of Story Bikes provides stability when sprinting and climbing. The frame’s stiffness allows for a better transfer of energy. Also, aluminum is resistant to rust so riding on those rainy days will not be a problem.

We hid the battery in the down tube so that the bike can remain looking like a bike. No huge batteries bolted to your bike frame. This sleek design lets you power around in complete stealth.
Designed to be both sleek and comfortable, the Velo Saddle is made by stretching genuine leather over plush cushioning and finished with classic rivet seals to give Story E-Bikes their classic look and feel.

Jason is avid in fitness, cooking (work in progress) and an outdoor enthusiast that loves to travel. He’s been working as a sales manager in the technology industry for the last 6 years and is a graduate from the University of California Santa Barbara. Jason is in charge of Sales and Marketing.
Mark is a natural born inventor, he loves to create and build in his spare time. He’s a full time Firefighter in California. From the ages of 14 – 20 he cycled competitively as an amateur onto semi-professional winning multiple awards. Mark is in charge of Product and Engineering, a graduate from the University of California Santa Barbara.
Matt loves to fish and is a self-proclaimed foodie. He has spent the last 7 years in retail with an emphasis on product and sales management. He’s got a passion for providing his clients the best quality products and services. Matt is in charge of Finance and Supply, a graduate from the University of California Santa Barbara.
Form and function are the keystones for every product and its design. With more than a decade of experience, Christine has observed the dramatic shift and evolution of technology and how it affects consumers’ daily tasks. As Chief Design Officer, Christine strives to build a meaningful brand and product that every biker will fall in love with.
Risks and challenges
Manufacturing: We’re working with a company in China to manufacture our bikes. There’s always a risk when working with companies that we can’t directly oversee. A risk would be having them fall behind in manufacturing the bikes. The factory itself is very clean and organized which we saw first hand when we visited it earlier this year in January.
Shipping: Once the bikes are complete we’re having them sent via sea which can be somewhat reliable, but there is always a chance for delays. From the port they’ll be picked up and shipped via ground UPS. There are always risks importing anything into the USA.
