WE ARE STONE PUPS:
We are a home-based business that makes healthy, high-quality, vegan dog training treats. Our small team is made up of 3 individuals, Uyen, Hugo, and Antonina. Uyen orchestrates our healthy and delicious recipes as well as being a super strict product quality controller; Hugo curates the feel and look of our brand; and Antonina strategizes our operations and sales with her business development know-how. We met at the dog park a year ago and quickly became good friends. What brought us together? Simply put, a deep love to all animals, including, of course, our own rescued pups.
OUR AWESOME PRODUCT:
- Oven Baked
- And contain NO by-products
Like all doting dog parents, we want to think that the treats we give our pups are not only delicious but are thoughtful, natural, wholesome and healthy using ingredients that we ourselves would use. Our vegan dog treats are popular among both vegan and non-vegan dog handlers. We were surprised at the level of demand and interest in our product. As of now, we produce two products: "Carob Things" and "Herbalicious Things," but we want to expand our product line to include a variety of other flavors and tastes.
We strive to grow our home-based company. We believe that our high-quality product and well-thought-out business plan (including traditional sales tactics and online strategy) will lead us in the right direction. We want our vegan treats to contribute not only into the well-being of many dogs but the well-being of all animals in general. Every dollar we raise will be spent on achieving this goal.
THE SHORT TERM PLAN:
1. We have a database of all pet stores in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. We are planning to launch a big marketing campaign by mailing small sample boxes (400 stores) with two treat packages (samples) each. We have ran one small campaign (30 pet stores in NYC) and it brought great results and several stores have placed sizable orders with us. The estimated cost to mail one package is $3.5.
Marketing campaign: 400 x $3.5 = $1400
2. Register our products for selling online (our website and online marketplaces). For selling online it is required to register/license the product in every state to which the product will be sold to. Every state has a separate registration fee. We have registered our products (Carob and Herbalicious) in New York state. We are going to obtain registrations in Pennsylvania - $50 ($25 per product) and New Jersey - $500 ($250 per product).
Products registration: $500 + $50 = $550
As of now, we distribute our treats through networking as well as selling them to a few local pet stores. We are seeking to collect only $1950 because the main pieces of the business are already in place. We have invested in nice and sustainable packaging, professional chef tools, and small marketing campaign.
All we need is a little financial boost to bring us to another level and make our products go viral!
Risks and challenges
Our product ("drools") is hand made, hand squeezed to be precise, and as of now we have only three pairs of hands. As our operations grow, we'll need to automate the process of squeezing. Thankfully, one of our team members works in the restaurant equipment industry, so we are hoping to get a "squeezing" machine at a low cost :)Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
