Talk, You Fiend!
A Blind Auction card game that's a torturously fun time!
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Thu, August 29 2019 2:26 PM UTC +00:00.
The king has gone mad! Well, madder... He's throwing people into the dungeon left and right to try to uncover the conspiracy to unseat him that surely exists. As his favored crew of dungeon keepers, torturers, and psychopaths, your job is to turn the screws on these unfortunate yokels and get them to confess. The best torturer will be awarded the title of head warden, and the rest...well, best not to think about it.
Talk, You Fiend! is an easy-to-learn blind auction game for three to six people, with an average play time of thirty to forty-five minutes. Apply a bit of pressure (or a lot, we won't judge) and outsmart your fellow jailers to score prisoners and leave your opponents with the stinging shame of failure. Collect sets of prisoners to score points, avoid shame and demotion, and 'gift' your friends with the worst known liars in the kingdom. Talk, You Fiend! is a tortuously fun time for ages ten and up!
Set up is easy! Pass out a hand of seven devious devices to each player, shuffle up the dungeon full of prisoners, and you're good to go!
The goal of "Talk, You Fiend!" is simple: Be the first torturer to collect 10 points worth of prisoners.
Playing a round is simple: flip over the top card of the prisoner deck. Everybody plays a torture card face down and then flips them up. Add them all up!
If the gang's total is equal to or less than the prisoner's health value; the torturer who played highest card wins the prisoner, and the prisoner who played the lowest card gets a Shame Token. But the group is too eager and goes OVER the prisoner's health value...you break the prisoner and the torturer who played the low number wins instead, and the torturer who played the highest card gets a Shame Token.
Be careful! If you're too off the ball, you'll start earning shame. SHAAAME! (Shame is bad. Shame counts as MINUS points!) Earn too much shame and the King might call you into a meeting with HR! (No one ever wants a meeting with HR) But if you're a master of deception, perhaps you can bluff your friends into taking the shame instead...
Polish up your thumbscrews, and get to work!

Risks and challenges
Firstly, we would like to thank you all for your continuous support throughout our journey. From the seemingly neverending rounds of playtesting, to the extremely late night or ungodly early morning Skype calls with China. The board game Kickstarter community was always there for advice and a point in the right direction. We have made it this far already, and feel well prepared for the road ahead no matter what it throws at us.
The team’s lead designer, James Stone, has worked through many different iterations to fine-tune “Talk, You Fiend!” to its current state. The game requires no further work in its design. It has completed numerous rounds of playtesting and the game rules and mechanics are very much locked in. There may be some minor numerical tweaks to some cards in the final version that may differ from the current prototype version.
The team’s artist, Andrew Swainson, will be completing the final versions of the artwork by the end of the campaign running time. We will be bringing some well-placed splashes of color to the game to really make it stand out. We have already planned out the basic framework for extra reward tier art, all we are missing is to add in the backer’s likeness.
MANUFACTURING & FULFILLMENT
The team’s project manager, Michael Lin, comes from a strong background of working with multiple companies in different industries and has a solid grasp of what is needed to bring a product to market. We have gotten multiple quotes from factories in China who all have very strong track records of games they have produced in the past. For fulfillment, we will be working with Fulfillrite who is one of the industry leaders in Kickstarter fulfillment.
We feel that the best policy is to be open and transparent with our backers. We will be giving our backers frequent updates on the process of the project and fulfillment as it progresses. If any unexpected issues arise in the process of getting our game to you, you will be kept well in the loop. Our goal is to be able to deliver a product to all our backers that they can be proud to show off to others as an example of what can be accomplished through the Kickstarter platform. We understand that there is much risk in backing any project on Kickstarter, but we strongly believe in the 5 P’s: (Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance). We have a great team, we have a great plan; with your support, we will deliver a great product.
If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to email@example.com, and we will respond you directly.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
