Very pleased to let you all know that we’re working hard on wrapping up development on Banner Saga 2. As we get toward the end we’ll start sharing more information about the game, but at this point here’s what we can tell you:
- Combat Changes - Over the past few years we noticed and heard all of the feedback regarding combat in The Banner Saga, so improving that experience has been on the top of our list. We’re adding things to the battle boards to make them more interesting, adding in objectives to certain combat scenarios, vastly increasing the unit and ability diversity, and telling more story via the battle board this time around.
- The Story Continues - You’re going back to the same world but you’re going to see more of it and experience a host of new characters. We hope you import your saved games from The Banner Saga because doing so will make sure your choices, characters, items and ranks all carry over to Banner Saga 2.
- Keeping the Bar High - We set a high quality bar for ourselves with the launch of The Banner Saga, and nothing has changed as far as that standard is concerned, except that we like to think we’ve raised the bar just that bit little higher for Banner Saga 2.
One character you’ll encounter early on is Folka. Folka is a shieldmaiden, gets involved in combat up close and personal, is a true force to be reckoned with and is our first female melee character.
Folka’s size, mind for strategy, and gall make her the unofficial second-in-command of the Ravens, the infamous mercenaries led by the last varl berserk, Bolverk. From a frozen region where a family’s worth is measured daily by the trees they fell, Folka knows hardship and loss better than most, yet still finds reason to fight on. As the only human alive who has challenged Bolverk’s orders and gained his trust, the other mercenaries go to her to make requests. Her strong personality keeps most of the men around her at arm's-length,whether she wants that or not.
We’re excited to have just launched Banner Saga on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. It took a long time to get here due to our small team, but the effort has paid off. The game has been well received by PlayStation and Xbox players around the globe and we’re extremely happy to be able to give all gamers the chance to experience this unique indie game as well. Because of this advancement to multiple platforms we’re already well on our way to having Banner Saga 2 completed on those platforms as well.
Unfortunately last year we had to put the Vita version on the backburner due to some issues with one of our porting companies, but we’re happy to report that with the PlayStation team’s support we were able to get that going again. Keep your eyes open for some news about the Vita port, how it’s progressing and eventually a launch announcement.
We’re very proud to share that you will have the chance to get a Vinyl version of the amazing Austin Wintory OST for The Banner Saga via iam8bit.com/store . Pre-Orders will start on Thursday at (January 21st) at 10am PST.
Finally we’re planning some awesome stuff for our fans this year during several consumer shows! Feel free to stop by the Versus Evil booth (#11064) at PAX South from 29th - 31st January to check out the early Banner Saga 2 demo and maybe even get yourself one of the official Banner Saga pins we’ve had made. We also want to give you heads up about the forthcoming PAX East show in Boston that runs from April 22nd - 24th. We’re working on some big things for the Banner Saga with the Penny Arcade team and it would be great to see you there! We’re encouraging cos-players also. It would be great to see a few Rooks and Alettes or even dredge walking around the convention and you have to admit any sort of Viking outfit is just plain cool looking.
As always, we’re humbled by your support and kindness. 2016 is going to be great!
The Banner Saga: Warbands Kickstarter campaign is coming down to the final hours. It has already been successfully funded, but there’s still time to get in on the campaign and grab the game and cool miniatures for yourself. We’ve also thrown in a Banner Saga 2 in-game item that will appear in your inventory at the start of the game (not exclusive - you can still find it in game) for those that back the game at the Bannerman Pledge level. We have to hit that stretch goal first though! Click the image below for more info.
It’s worth noting that as each stretch goal is achieved it means extra value to your pledges, we want you all to get the most that you can for your support. Of course feel free to share the Kickstarter link. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/megacongames/the-banner-saga-warbands
Speaking of stretch goals, the MegaCon Games team just revealed some very cool miniatures for our Godstones. Click the image below to see the rest of the images!
Recently Brian from MegaCon Games sat down with Super Nerd Factory for an interview talking about Banner Saga Warbands. We’d suggest you have it playing while you read through the full the Warbands Kickstarter campaign and updates. Listen to it here: https://soundcloud.com/supernerdfactory/audio-pollution-episode-120
Once again, we want to thank you for all things Banner Saga related. We wouldn’t be here without you and your continued support. If you share the Warbands information on twitter, please use #Warbands and we’ll do our best to retweet and follow you as a thank you!
The team at Megacon Games just launched their kickstarter for The Banner Saga Warbands. The team at Megacon Games have done an amazing job and have captured the essence of The Banner Saga perfectly in a miniatures game. Head to the link below to check out their campaign!
We'll be updating soon with more info about all things The Banner Saga!
Tribal, warring, and somewhat mysterious, the horseborn are another race produced by a god who cross-wove two of the Loom-mother’s creations. They once lived among man and varl, though they were never fully tolerated. With a lifespan half that of humans, their boldness was perceived as reckless by the other races. Centuries ago, following the advice of a single leader, horseborn slaughtered all the horses in order to free them from man and varl. The shame from such an act forced them all to flee south in self-exile to the empty plains of Dalalond.
Development for consoles is going well and we're putting on the final touches for Microsoft and Sony now. Still some work to do, but we're nearing the finish line. We've had to make some changes to the UI and the Controls (to work better with a controller) over the course of development and we're quite happy with how The Banner Saga plays out on a console.
