STITCH Magazine was founded in 2006 with a mission to chronicle campus style. Ten years later, we're still doing that...and a whole lot more.
Today, we produce five issues a year, five stories a week on stitchfashion.com, innumerable campus events like launch parties, an iPhone app, a weekly email campaign, The Stitchlist, and a weekly podcast, The Stitchcast. Yes, we are Northwestern's official fashion publication. But over the past few years, we have worked to expand our platform to be less about campus fashion, and more about the culture, art and conversation surrounding style. We partner with a diverse array of student groups, like SEED (Northwestern's environmental organization) and Sex Week, to instigate important discussion about the sustainability of fashion or the relationship between dress and sexual assault. We profile a breadth of students, from engineers to athletes, to highlight the dynamic array of faces that brighten our campus. We use fashion as a launching pad to explore a variety of topics that are relevant and important to college students.
And we need your help to keep doing what we're doing--and hopefully, to do it even better. With your generous contribution, STITCH will not only be able to print its 10th Anniversary Issue (which costs about $1500), but we will continue to both create and innovate.
Specifically, we're using our Kickstarter to:
-Print our Anniversary Issue
-Buy a Lighting Kit to improve our photo quality and Microphone to enhance our sound
-Fund STITCH Tech, which includes initiatives like our Interactive Website and our Podcast
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for supporting STITCH.
If you can't contribute at this time, we understand. You can help us just as well by sharing this page and spreading the word.
Risks and challenges
Our biggest challenge is constantly obtaining sources of funding. Printing is more expensive than expected, and having a steady source of funds to do all that we hope to accomplish has proven challenging over the past. We hope to use this Kickstarter to sustain our funding for a significant period of time.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
