The C64 version of Unknown Realm is only available on cartridge. All C64 backers will also get the PC version so they can play on their modern system through our platform, Anvil, as well. This game will not work on the the EasyFlash (not enough memory) and the engine was created along with the cartridge so it isn't compatible with standard .d64s or floppy images.
The PC (Windows/Mac) version of the game is a native application designed specifically for those systems. The game is point and click ready just like any other PC game you would download or install these days as a self-contained product.
Yes! All C64 copies of the game will come with the PC version too! In addition, all backers at any physical tier will receive the digital equivalents as well (digital download, digital game supplements, etc).
Although we think there is a good chance the Windows PC version of the game will work on Linux via Wine, we have not tested this yet. Unfortunately, we don't have the luxury of using off the shelf game engines to provide us with automatic support across many platforms. This means each platform needs to be tested and maintained by us and we simply don't have the resources to support and maintain every platform. Priority #1 is getting the game finished. We love Linux and are open to a native port if there is enough demand, but we need to finish the game on its initial platforms first. Anyone that backs the PC version of the game during our campaign will get access to the Linux version for free if and when it becomes available, so Linux fans please back our game and send us a message that you want to see that future Linux version made and supported! We do keep track of these requests. :)
We estimate the game will have 40-50 hours of straight gameplay if you are only focused on solving the main plot. This doesn't include exploring sub quests or going back and playing with different characters and skill sets, which will increase those hours. There are also multiple endings that players may like to explore.
