I'm a saxophonist, composer, educator, and author based out of Seattle. I'm headed into the studio in September to record a new album with jazz trumpet great Ingrid Jensen.
Ingrid Jensen is one of my favorite jazz artists and it is thrilling for me to have the opportunity to collaborate with her. Her dynamic playing is filled with thick lyricism, angular lines, and true spontaneity. She will be a perfect fit for the music I have been writing over the past few years. You may be familiar with her work as a soloist in the Grammy award-winning Maria Schneider Jazz Orchestra or Darcy James Argue's Secret Society. Watch this video from Bravo Canada to learn more about Ingrid and her music:
I also have the privilege of collaborating with some of Seattle's finest jazz musicians: Dawn Clement and Dan Kramlich on piano, Chris Spencer on guitar, Jon Hamar and Dean Schmidt on bass, and Steve Korn on drums. You can hear tracks of us playing together on my first album Resonance here: http://stevetres.com/audio This project will also include Meg Risso on cello.
Before we record, we will play a show on September 11th at The Royal Room, a great new venue in Seattle's Columbia City neighborhood. You can buy tickets from Stranger Tickets (or reserve seating by donating though Kickstarter).
This music will mostly be original compositions, including a brand new piece by Ingrid. We will also be playing some free improvisations, a tune by Lee Konitz and a cover of a song by Sunny Day Real Estate.
I have enough money saved for the recording session at Avast Studio, but I need more funding to see this project through. I set a fundraising goal of $5,000 to fund the mixing, mastering, graphic design, duplication, and promotion of this album. In exchange for your donation, you can receive some cool rewards including Skype lessons with Ingrid, signed CDs, digital downloads before the album is officially released, reserved seating for our Royal Room show on September 11th, a chance to sit in the band and more.
Kickstarter is an all-or-nothing platform. This means if you choose to make a donation, your credit card will only be charged once this project hits the $5,000 mark. If I don't reach my target by September 8th, no one will be charged and I won't receive any of the donations. Thanks so much for you support! Hope to see you at the Royal Room on September 11th!
