"The Cavern" - 2nd concept album from Steven Deeds + companion picture book. One complete folk tale from start to finish.
I'm Steven Deeds, and I am an independent artist from St. Louis, MO. I've played my songs in almost every state in the USA, and have released 3 EP's and one full length. I believe that music is, at its heart, meant to tell a story. So with every song I write, I try to consider that. My last album "Dreamer" was the first time I created an entire album that told 1 complete story, and I plan to do it again with "The Cavern".
The Cavern will be my second full-length album. The cavern is a folk tale, set in early Americana, about a young slave and his journey to freedom. For more information about where the vision for this album came from visit http://stevendeedsmusic.com/blog/13808030/announcingthecavern
In order to best convey the story, I want to do something different. Along with the musical piece, I want to create a companion picture book, which I believe will bring the full story to life.
Think of the story books your parents read you as a child (where the wild things are, the giving tree, and the like).
I have commissioned Three Bears Design (http://threebearsdesign.com) to illustrate this picture book. We have already been in the working on some character sketches, and I am really excited about the completion of this picture book. It's going to be something unique and beautiful
The production of the album, and the companion picture book.
The Cavern will be released, symbolically in March of 2014. Marking exactly 3 years since my last release.
I hope that you share my belief that the power of music is in story telling, and you are passionate about this project like I am. Check out the rewards I'm offering on the right, and pledge what you think is right for you.
I really appreciate you taking the time to read my story. Here's to the success of "The Cavern"!

This is a work in progress, and I want to take my time and get this thing right. This project is extremely important to me, and it's something I believe in strongly. I plan to release the album in March of 2014, but I may face challenges with getting recording mixed and albums printed by then. The sooner I can get the funds, the sooner I can start, and the sooner I can hope to finish.
