Thank you for visiting this Kickstarter page. My business, UpWeeGo Children’s Products requires a production mold to help make the StepUp kids chair. Your support will help bring this amazing idea to life. Please enjoy the information we have provided and don’t hesitate to ask us any questions. Thanks a ton in advance!
How high is the StepUp kids chair?
Most toddler activity play centers have platform heights of approximately 27" (70 cm) high. The seating area of the Step Up chair is just 20" (51 cm) high. The steps also have sidewalls and a friendly hand grip area to guide them safely up and down.
When do I use the steps?
We recommend the child be at least 2 years of age. They should also be a confident climber with good motor skills.
Dad invented and designed!
In 2006 the StepUp chair inventor Raphael, AKA, super Dad noticed his daughter trying to get into her booster seat alone. As usual he walked over and lifted her in. This is when the idea first came. He went to the pantry and pulled out a plastic kitchen stool and placed it right beside the chair. She knew instantly what to do.
A few days later the inventor drew a high chair with a step attachment on a paper napkin. His drawing completely bypassed all the traditional highchair, design thinking. He then applied for a US patent and approached a engineer at Penn State university to polish up the design. The engineer was also a Dad of two young boys. They also used a 3D printer and came up with some really cool designs!
Designing behind the scene
The kids were always a big part of the StepUp design. They told us what things they liked. This was a great advantage during the design process. This behind the scene video also shows how much fun we had working with the kids!
Real life daycare testing
A wooden prototype was made and taken to the local daycare for testing. The StepUp chair was a hit! All the kids loved it especially the daycare operator. It could be used for so many things and was a breeze to clean up.
This sounds great! What do the experts say?
Even the top mom blogs loved it!

Housewife on a Mission: “Up Wee Go Step Up High Chair is the perfect gift for that expecting mom too!” “It's worth the investment if it makes the parents life easier.”
Its Peachy Keen: “It will most likely be in good condition come that third kid.”

Easy clean surface
All Step Up products are made with Microban® Protection. This special ingredient is mixed directly into our plastic during the manufacturing process. This results in surfaces that are easy to clean and resist bacterial and mold growth.
The StepUp kids chair is a modular, multifunctional system. This means each part can do several useful things! It’s a fantastic highchair on its own. Add the steps and it becomes a unique toddler, seating system. These same steps can also be used as a handy way for kids to brush their teeth or reach a bed. Connect the steps to our slide and you now have instant fun! Having all these features with one modular system will surly save space.
Making the StepUp product line right here in the United States makes a ton of sense. It allows us to keep a close eye on every aspect of the chairs manufacturing process. This includes several levels of quality control from the raw materials to the finished product. There are many other benefits like being able to fill and ship orders quicker, creating domestic jobs and ensuring we are using sustainable manufacturing processes. UpWeeGo Children’s Products is an active member of the ASTM American Society for Testing and Materials (#1814414). Following our first production run it is our goal to ensure the StepUp chair will be approved by the CPSC Consumer Product Safety Commission and JPMA Juvenile Products Manufactures Association.
No worries, we have them covered. Up Wee Go Children’s product company recognizes change is needed to protect our environment. That’s why we developed the “Keep it Green” recycling program. Click this link to learn more!
Challenges with booster seats and highchairs
The pictures here show how the average child uses a booster seat. The typical way is climbing up the side. This is fairly easy but there is a chance the chair could tip over. The front climb, is harder and typically results in the chair being too far from the table. Getting down off the side usually involves a jump. The front dismount, is easier but could involve a bumped head or chin on the way down. Highchairs are even higher and would create similar problems. The Setp Up chair solves all of this issues.
Our StepUp chair takes the design centre stage. Its modular shape, durable one piece construction, shark fin tray and unique rear storage drawer have raised the design bar in the children's chair segment. The chair can be pushed up to nest just under most tables or used on its own like traditional highchairs. A four inch wide base travels 270 degrees around the chair making it very stable. Its shape is completely modular and very easy to clean. The chair comes with a three point harness system which can be easily installed and removed for cleaning. You can easily connect our optional Steps to the left or right side of the chair.
Built-in storage drawer
Our convenient storage drawer is also a high chair "first". You can now store things like; favorite eating time toys, baby wipes or bibs, anything you want right in the back of the StepUp chair!
The key component in our patented design is the Steps. After most toddler's master climbing and walking they should be ready for our step option. Just connect the Steps on the right or left side of our chair and watch the child seat them-self! We are positive you will get a great smile in return! The steps can be used for many things. Place them against a bathroom sink cabinet for brushing teeth. The steps can also make getting into a high bed easier.
The StepUp design team analyzed many things kids did to have fun. One of the most popular pastimes was going down a slide. This is where the inspiration came from to design our modular, starter slide option. Just connect our steps and the fun begins! Our slide has the perfect amount of slope. The hand grip area near the top of the slide has been carefully thought out. There are no parts to assemble and its solid design makes it extra sturdy.
Meet the team
Full size wooden prototype
It took over 2 months to complete but a local carpenter turned the small 3D printed chair into a full size prototype. It was slightly larger but perfect for testing.
United States patent US 7,644,988
It took almost 4 years and a bunch of resources but the patent was finally approved. The strength of a utility patent is measured by its approved claims. Most patents have 5-10 approved claims. The StepUp chair has 18 approved claims. One of the largest domestic patent firms in the US helped file the patent.
Since the first high chair was patented in Febuary1880 not a whole lot has changed. The concept of a chair mounted on legs with a tray is basically the same. For the most part these traditional chairs work ok or at least until the child is old enough to climb, walk and run around. As the child grows most highchairs typically wind up in storage, the local garage sale or worse yet, a landfill. Families then struggle for the next 3-4 years with booster seats, phone books or whatever else they can use to level their loved ones at the dinner table. The “patented” StepUp chair system will change this forever!
We have several super cool ideas for our stretch goals! All your support is greatly appreciated.

Risks and challenges
The projects founder is no stranger to taking things from mere concepts to functioning brands. These practical business experience along with his hand picked Up Wee Go team members are sure to overcome any unforeseen challenges. Step Up has a rock solid United States utility patent and a clear vision to become an innovator in the children industry. There is no reason to believe this will not happen.
We have carefully selected a contract manufacture who has the necessary resources to manufacture our StepUp chair. However, we will be relying on this manufacture for the day-to-day operation and timing involving our actual production. We have a fair degree of confidence that any delay will be minimal in nature.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
