Hi all,

Thank you so much for your advice, thoughts, and definitely your support. You all made valid arguments and it's led me to decision to never do another Kickstarter exclusive.

It was just something that other companies did and I followed suit but the idea that people who have showed faith being annoyed because they're missing out doesn't sit well with me.

Thank you x

Good choice. I don't have the "Superbacker" tag, but have backed lots of projects. I really don't like Kickstarter Exclusive content if it's anything meaningful. A custom skin for a video game character or a custom book cover is fine, but inevitably I'll miss a Kickstarter that I really wanted to back, and if entire books are exclusive it's a real bummer. If you still want to make something exclusive, a time limit is a good idea. KS backers can get it 1 year earlier or something. I want content providers to be able to make as much money as possible in the end, so that they will be encouraged to make more of the things we love, so IMO sell everything to non-backers if you can. In lieu of exclusive, you can just make it more expensive for non-backers if you want to keep it in the club.

I was a little worried at first!!! Glad to see we will be having plenty more campaigns to look forward too. Not trying to push my luck or poke a sensitive subject but here goes... Does this mean that there might be a chance that the exclusive from TTWLB could possibly show up in a different format, or parts of it included in a future Kickstarter, maybe in some kind of a campaign guide?

Had a similar reaction "never do another kickstarter !" - then I read the next word... ah, phew.

Honestly, exclusives do work in the short term, but I think there is longer term reputation risk from them, then some companies sail through (CMON) and others then drown in.

"free extras that will cost money at retail" are already a huge incentive. The extra "and you'll never get them ever again" is a super effective, cheap trick. Good choice for dropping them - I'd like to think the KS world is slowly moving away from FOMO exploitation!

I made it this far, “it's led me to decision to never do another Kickstarter,” and my heart stopped. Luckily it started back up a few seconds later and I was able to re-read that sentence and realize that I don’t need to die after all. Good news all around!
