SECOND Update: NEW new video for FINAL TWO DAY PUSH!!!
Update: New Video for the FINAL WEEK PUSH!!!
WHY WE ARE HERE!
I’m sure you’ve seen 500 twenty-five thousand 600 Kickstarters for films before. And this is another one!
So what makes this one special, one worth donating your hard-earned currency of choice in a world seemingly on the break of chaos?
I’ve gone through several film projects in the past, and always because I’ve felt the spark, that this story needs to be told and I’m the one to tell it (with the help of incredible cast and crew of course). In the past, I think I counted on others getting that same spark, that the beauty was self-evident. But that isn’t a given. A spark of ingenuity and $37 will get you a cup of coffee in this town. You gotta spread the spark.
So let me try my best to bare my soul to you, why I DO believe, in all honesty, that this is worth your time, consideration, and money.
I started writing this film at the tale end of the worst period of my life, where my dreams lay in ruin. My goal with the film was to describe everything I was feeling as a mid-20s post-college lost soul, a point in your life where you are more aware of the problems of life but (in cases like mine) the least equipped to take them on.
So I wrote two characters (James, a guitarist, and Artist, an... artist) who have decided to handle their uncertainties by living the bohemian lifestyle. In stereotypical movie world, they would be a perfect couple, quirky and simpatico, laughing at the rest of the world as they struggle to live up to the expectations of the “man”.
But they are really running away from their true selves, not embracing it. And that truth has decided to confront them, in a world that is somewhere between dream and reality.
Artist and James share this experience, and the pieces of their past are mixed together. By putting the pieces together, they’ll discover the answer: that “truth” is not clothing, or lifestyle, or attitude, but how you live in the world you are at right here and now.
Or something like that.
The thing is, by the time I was finished with the script, I had moved into a very good period of my life, enough so that I was able to make the short EVERYTHING THAT IS YOU as a spiritual predecessor for this film, and I was able to move ahead with the development of REMEMBER TO FORGET as a feature film. I paid off a lot of debt, lost a lot of weight, got a promotion at work. In short, I figured some shit out.
Originally, I thought I would make a film, and that would save me, pull me out of the debt and misery. But the opposite happened; I started putting my life together with the pieces I had, and through that was able to start creating again. REMEMBER TO FORGET started as an exploration of the feelings of doubt and failure I had struggled with; when I finished it, I think I found the answers just like James and Artist.
So maybe the film did save me after all.
And THAT is why I feel confident that this is the story I am meant to tell, and that this film will be worth every hour worked on and every dollar donated and spent.
Do you feel the spark? Well then come on board, cause REMEMBER TO FORGET is a picture in motion, and you can make it move even farther.
THE STORY OF THE FILM
Have you ever gone out for the night trying to forget everything you went through during the day, the week, the year? That’s all Artist planned on doing that night, when she went to that bar. She had no idea that a band was even playing that night. But there they were, playing away, with James on guitar. James, who catches her eye, who looks back…
Before you know it, Artist and James are on an artistic meetcute. The quips are flying like a Tarantino festival! These two artistes look like they are starting a beautiful…
...a car crashes in the night…
...A hulking figure breaks through the door…
...A mysterious and menacing doctor…
It’s clear that reality is no longer reality for Artist and James. Flashes of the past, present, and even future invade their subconscious.
Artist and James are forced to question every assumption they’ve had about themselves, and they must work together to get back to reality.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP (AND WHY THIS MUCH)!
Movies cost money. You know that. So let’s cut to the chase and tell you what we need the money for specifically.
Our goal is $12,000 with a stretch goal of $15,000.
The major of that funding will go towards the two weeks of shooting in February, with at least half dedicated to the camera department and locations. The other half will go towards expenses such as food, art department, and potential upgrades to camera equipment.
This number is not out of thin air, but based on quotes from our DP and Art Department and based on my previous filmmaking speed and process. For perspective, my last short, EVERYTHING THAT IS YOU (which is linked in this Kickstarter page) only cost $600, which is a tribute to my speed and ability to pull a production together below cost. But of course a feature is a much bigger endeavor. We have a lot of in-kind help so far on this project plus a base amount of funds I’ve raised on my own, but this Kickstarter will be a big launchpad for the project to really get in motion.

Risks and challenges
There are several aspects of filmmaking that can fall apart at any moment: locations can no longer be available, an actor may get sick or decide to move, even something like another film coming along that is similar. I've already dealt with all of these issues even up to this point in the project. Originally I was aiming for November to shoot, but I realized that if I didn't get every aspect of preparation right the film might be made but not at the standard we are going for. That is why we are now shooting in February. And we are far more prepared now and are well on our way to be ready. Full disclosure, we are putting a lot of stock in this specific fundraiser, but I give you my full confidence that this is the last major piece we need, and your fund will go fully toward this project on it's current schedule. Thank you very much for your understanding and support.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
