> What is Rebuild?
Rebuild is an open world virtual reality zombie apocalypse.
It is built on Unreal Engine 4 and will require an Oculus Rift or Vive headset to play
> What can I do in it?
- Survive waves of zombies with friends in a mini-game
- Shoot targets in the gallery
- Run the weapons course
- Loot towns, and other areas you find in the map
- Build a house in the hills with a view of the apocalypse
- Listen for AI loot missions with a radio
- Connect to your friend's game (LAN) [servers are an early stretch goal!]
- Find sights and fore-grips for your rifles
> The Map
Rebuild takes place in a valley. It is a large landscape with towns, mountains, forests, an abandoned airfield, and more. Our first stretch goal is the addition of online servers so you and your friends can defend your base from rivals. If you're online It wont be easy surviving alone...
[The map is still being developed but here are some locations (not all are finished)]
Health - Watch your vitals on your smart watch. Too thirsty? You'll start to die. Too Hungry? You'll start to die. Get hit by a bullet or a zombie? You'll start to bleed... You'll need to stock up on bandages and med-kits.
Hunger - Look for food while your'e out looting for when you get hungry... You need food to live.
Thirst - Grab all the water you see. The more you run, the more you need to drink.
Bleeding - You'll want to find bandages. It would be a shame to survive the gunfight just to bleed out...
This can all be seen from your watch on your wrist... watch it carefully.
Stay out of sight and you should be okay. If you're a good enough shot their heads might explode... just saying.
Loot spawns randomly throughout the world. You'll want to find a backpack too, the bigger the better. You can also find a vest which has velcro on it. You can stick mag pouches or pistol holsters to your vest for quick access storage. (watch the demo gameplay for example footage)
> Stretch Goals
$3000 - 24/7 online servers upon release
$3500 - Vehicles
$4000 - Trader Camp
$5000 - Second Zombie Type
> Why Donate?
This is a fair question. My answer is that there is a limit to what I can do with my limited funding. I have personally paid for everything necessary to make the demo you see today. Now I am looking to the crowd for some support! If this Kickstarter is successful I can surely finish the rest of this game and put it out on the steam and oculus store early access!
Though I am only one person I am passionate about creating a finished product that feels like a AAA title. I am creating this game because I love development and I love VR. I believe the potential of VR has barely been touched and I work extremely long hours to produce experiences I have been hoping larger studios would do for a couple years now. To do this I need the help of generous people who agree with me and want to see this happen. I would like to make more games after this as well which improve upon each release! Please help support this project so I can share this with all of you who love VR as well... and... and if that's not enough you can get your name in the credits too.
Risks and challenges
It is no secret that video games are not simple projects. They take time, dedication, money, creativity, passion, skill, and so much more. I think the largest challenge this project faces is that I am only one person. This presents the challenge that the entire workload is all on me, I ask you please not to let this cause you any doubt in the project. Rebuild is already far enough along for players to travel between towns, find loot, kill zombies, build a house, die, and start all over. I may be one person but I am determined and I want to produce a great game that the community will love. Virtual reality is still untouched by major anti-consumer companies, this creates opportunity for smaller companies to create something great the consumers will love.
Rebuild will continue to undergo development and the optimal outcome of the kickstarter is a funded game in which development is tightly connected with the community in order to create a game that the backers want to play more and more as their own ideas are worked into each update.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
