The biggest cost in game development is the team's time. If, for example, you pay 5 people $50,000/year and they work for 3 years, that's $750,000 right there. But there are other costs as well. Software licenses, dev kits, non-salaried contractor work, etc. It is this latter category that we need the most help with. By looking at all of the costs for which we would need to open our wallets and pay for stuff, that comes to around $48,000.
As a team, we've been working away on Savior for little or no pay and making ends meet by taking on side jobs. The $48,000 will ensure that we don't have to max out our credit cards to pay for things we need to make the game. Anything we make beyond that will enable us to take fewer side jobs so we can spend all of our time on getting Savior out as quickly as possible at the high quality standard the game demands.
