We Broke the Post Office

Some lessons we have learned from Kickstarter:

1. We love video games, art and development. We hate prize fullfillment. Don't misunderstand - we love giving you guys posters and shirts and seeing how excited everyone is about the project, but we aren't exactly logistics people.

2. Shipping 100 tubes full of shirts, posters and other goodies is not something anyone is good at. UPS, USPS, FedEx - none of them. But we finally just went in and did it, by hand, manually entering every address to get these puppies out. Proof is attached. Behind us is a line of very pissed off people waiting to send packages and personal mail - nothing important, were sure, but stuff none the less. We were going to take a picture but decided against it.

3. Australia is really far away. We would appreciate it if you could move your continent a bit closer to save on parcel. Japan too.

4. Tim Schafer is a god. Unrelated, we know, but Double Fines achievements on Kickstarter are really amazing. We really love this platform. And we're really excited about a lot of other games coming out through kickstarter as well.

So all that said, we hope you guys really love your posters, t-shirts buttons etc. We're gonna release some iPhone and iPad wallpapers this week as well. And please, post pictures of your gear on facebook - we love seeing you guys get excited.

As always, thanks so much for supporting us and thanks so much for being patient when it comes to our development, prizes and just about everything else. We are working extremely hard on the game. Also, we hope your going to PAX, cause there might be playable demos, talks, roundtables, and exclusive schwag from Warballoon. More on that soon...

Heh, New Zealand is even further away, muahahaha, can't wait to get my stuff and for the release of the Android version :)

    3. Karsten Kopplin on February 14, 2012

Awesome! Stuff in tubes! Last time I got awesome stuff in tubes it was Pixie Stix!
I bet this tube stuff is at least as much fun when you put it on your tongue! :p

Kidding aside, thanks for the update, I was a little worried my package (hehe) got lost in the mail again.
Should've known that you awesome people will keep us awesomely updated once you send out the awesome swag.
Maybe some photos of the swag for us gibbering masses? :D

Besides, you can´t possebly screw up more than the gorillaz fanclub did. Once they finaly shiped the fanclub goodies they send it to peoples nick names instead of their real names. :D

Us Australian residents are used to kicking in extra for postage on various projects, feel free to ask for extra kickbacks... I mean funding... when Star Command 2: UNIVERSE COMMAND goes in to funding. ;)

Sentiment appreciated. Something we should have taken into account - not your fault. Lessons learned.

Like we said - this isn't really in our skillset wheelhouse. Frankly, if more than 3 people actually get the posters, we will consider it a vast success.

Hi, I'm one of the Australians who backed your project, and I'd be happy to kick in a little extra to help out with the postage, just let me know how much and where you want it. Cheers!

Um. You realize there are package fulfillment shops that do this type of work for a living, right? I know there's a cost associated with it, but your opportunity cost is much more expensive. Just sayin'. :-P

      No Android love?

(I only half-kid. I'm sure they're just pictures and can be used on whatever platform we want, PC included, but... don't forget us Android people are out here. 1/10th of the reason I finally got my Galaxy Nexus (from Hong Kong!) was to play this game when it comes out.)

Enough to have the line leaving the building. No eye contact was made upon exiting the building.

I can't remember if I even qualified for any neat swag but the amount of work you guys put in getting the gear out to folks must have been a huge task. how much time was spent at the PO getting that all sent out?
