I supported your Kickstarter awhile back and I was hoping you could lend some support to mine.

Some blessed individuals have accomplished their greatest deeds and participated in their most epic adventures long after their demise.

After Life: True Tales of the Wandering Dead is a thoughtful and well-researched compilation of these very real post-mortem adventures.

Learn the complete history of mummy commerce and how the powdered remains of pharaohs came to be found in masterpiece works of art. Unearth the very real role Body Snatchers and ‘Resurrectionists’ performed in the name of science. Read about the Portuguese concubine who was exhumed and made Queen and about the deceased Wild West outlaw who travelled America as a funhouse prop.

These are just a small sampling of the very true tales of the wandering dead that can be found in the pages of After Life.

Expansions will not be free. For instance, away teams will take significant resources for us to make. That would come at a charge (for non-backers). Missions, races and other content will be free to extend the life of the game for all users.

It's too bad that I'll have to wait for the Toucharcade preview to answer my questions, and ultimately determine if I'll spend more money on this project.
      Current top questions being:
      1. How much will it cost?
      2. Does it natively support iPad, or will I have to X2 it?
      3. How will I get my rewards? (Bonus room and Intergalactic promo for free future DLC)

Since you asked @Star Command, Deepworld is the project and game I was referring to.

Perhaps their completed game vs unreleased Star Command has different levels of complexity perhaps not. I have no access to their source code nor your source code so I cannot compare. Though I imagine building good game AI is complex work.

But Deepworld also had to build, and maintain, server side communications within their game and various game clients to access those servers. As well as keep those accessed worlds persistent across multiple platforms and clients.

I don't discount that the game you are working on is difficult. I find it insulting that the communication from your end is so poor and lacking. Within this thread of comments, as well as many times within the Backers Only Updates, there are questions that have gone unanswered through multiple updates from you.

Kickstarter is a great place for crowd funding but to make it work for yourself and for those that follow after you, you must treat the community that helped you realise this success with respect. That doesn't mean kiss our assess but to understand that we shared in your excitement when you brought the idea of this game to us. We want this game to succeed, we want it to be awesome. And we know it takes work, everything good takes work.

You must look at it from our end though. We backed this project, gave you our money for something unfinished and with the understanding that we would still have to pay for the completed project. Is it too much to ask of you to answer our questions? To have weekly updates, even if they are a list of bugs found/squashed? Engagement is what will continue to make Kickstarter successful and your lack of engagement on Kickstarter is what bothers me and others I'm sure.

It's too late now, but engage with us. Let us know that what we gave is being put to good use. Excite us with screenshots. Give us a cheesy tour of the dev studio.

Yes engagement is work when you'd rather be coding. But Kickstarter is a different beast vs developing on your own and with your own funds.

I look forward to the day Star Command is released. I am unsure if I'll buy it because there are aspects of my own funding rewards I've not had answered. But I wish the Star Command team good fortune and good luck.

    32. Picture%20085.small

Creator Jason Preder on March 24, 2013

So, the best update we get after yet another month slips by is that there is STILL "a lot of work to do". On Feb 11th, you said you were "..utterly close to launch..". Is that still true? Utterly close to me seems like days, not months...but we've been hearing "almost there" since Christmas. I remember you guys saying that you were ready to release at Christmas, but you didn't want to compete with Angry Birds. It's very hard not be be bitter, and I tend to agree with justwes, that my money would have been better spent elsewhere, since I have to pay for the game anyhow, whenever it comes out. No amount of polish you could put on this game will elevate you to an Angry Birds level's a true anomoly.

      A badass game.

      Haha @Daniel

I gave up hope a long while ago.

A project on here that I funded, that ended up not getting enough backing, recently launched two versions for iOS, iPad & iPhone/iPod touch, as well as the desktop version of their game.

Without funding and less than a year after appearing on Kickstarter.

It's amazing being able to launch a MMO style game, that uses three different clients with no Kickstarter funding.

These guys get funding for two projects, desktop and iOS, and can't launch one single player game in nearly two years.

Pathetic. If I had known this would be the Duke Nukem of iOS games I would have taken my funds and backed a game with more competent developers. Surely there are better game studios more deserving of support.

Sent this message to the creators a few days ago with no reply of course:

I am addressing this message with positive intent. But it is a difficult thing to do based on past communications you've given to the Kickstarter community concerning this project.

It's nice to see updates. It is something that excites me when I see that there is an update for the one project I still am awaiting results for.

But those updates are so very few.

You may think, and possibly comment, that you post many updates on FaceBook for all to see. Myself, I had to hunt down the Facebook link as the original one, posted when the project was new, only had a few updates. When you created the PC/Mac version project you created a new Facebook page, but there were no updates for that.

I have a Facebook page, and have *Liked* the game on there. But I know many others in life as well as online that detest Facebook and the idea of visiting the site.

How difficult is it to take those same updates you post on Facebook and create one here with the same info? I really feel that on the Backers Only page the signal-to-noise ratio is very low and that the quality of the discussion is better vs Facebook.

Speaking of discussion here vs Facebook, it really feels that you swoop in and hit us with an update, but don't stick around to answer legitimate questions from us, the folks that helped you realise the dream and share the same excitement for the project as yourself.

I am hopeful the game is in the last bits of testing and I look forward to its release. Please come by and answer a few questions that us, the Kickstarter backers, have asked concerning some of our rewards and the games progress.

@Edmund Wong - They updated on fb, soft launch does not tie-in with Apple release schedule dates... so it's world-wide from day 1, now. Personally happy about that.

Just got an app "Bit Dungeon"? It was quite cool, like a "blinding of isaac" with pixel graphics. Not bad, but... not a patch on Star Command: The controls for Star Command are really nice by comparison!! GJ Warballoon.
